Title: Match Strike paper or adhesive for Medical Marijuana packs
Post by: rickself on February 26, 2019, 02:22:58 PM
Hope someone has some insight into this - at least the topic seems to draw attention!
Oklahoma recently passed a law permitting medical marijuana dispensaries as approved by doctors. Out business is being inundated with new businesses and out of state business moving into Oklahoma with packaging designs and so many are looking for packaging that holds cigarettes and a compartment for matches. Along the side of the pack is a striker for matches. Anybody have insight into design and printing with this type of material? Can it be applied on press? Is it put on by adhesive?

FWIW, my guess is that it has to be an add-on with a product similar to this:
https://www.amazon.com/JoeBar-Sales-Waterproof-Exclusive-Survivalist/dp/B073WP6R2G

and the reason I guess that is white phosphorus, which "is a toxic substance produced from phosphate-containing rocks. White phosphorus is used industrially to manufacture chemicals used in fertilizers, food additives, and cleaning compounds. It has been used in the past as a pesticide and in fireworks. It is used by the military in various types of ammunition as an incendiary agent (because it spontaneously catches fire in air) and as a smoke agent (because it produces clouds of irritating white smoke)."
"The match head contains an oxidizing agent, commonly potassium chlorate, and glue to bind it to further abrasive materials and other additive compounds. ... When the match is struck, a small amount of the red phosphorus on the striking surface is converted into white phosphorus, which then ignites."
May not want to load that in your equipment?

-just guessing though, good luck

born2print, that's the most in-depth answer I've ever seen.
Best part - the just guessing part! Had me chuckling out loud on that part.
Or should I call you professor!?
Thanks, I'll check out the link.

Well Canada passed a law permitting Cannabis use for WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANNA USE IT FOR. Very strange, you order it online from a government website and the pot is rated sort of like hot sauces on the potency scale, can't say i have splurged, but don't promise that I won't in the future. You can walk down the street here now, puffin on a doobie, totally legal.

Is Canada hurting for people? If not, keep passing laws like that and you'll soon be talking about building a wall.  :rotf:

Hmmmm, yes, some may be fond of the green stuff.

Have to tell you, never thought I would ever see the day.

Don't see many people smoking it around though, once in a while I smell it so I guess they are smoking in their backyards, etc.

Here's the weblink https://ocs.ca/#/ (some pretty stiff security at the beginning).

ditto...
although next year they are having a 'binding referendum' about legalising cannabis but have yet to supply any details, guess that will be interesting (medical is technically legal now under some very limited circumstances, but only drug company produced, not home grown)

The USA is kind of weird as it is legal in some states but still against Federal law so you could be toking legally in the states where it is legal but the feds could still break your door down and take you away. Employers in the states where it is legal can still fire you if you fail a drug test...at least that is the way I understand it.

And I would be careful transporting across state lines in the US, because I'm sure the Feds could get you there for transporting an illegal substance. As there are states that touch, that have it legal. It is really strange. I work in a state where it just became legal, but my employer is not going to allow it. Which is ok with me. And yes, I could get fired if they wanted to, now for that.

The feds can get you anywhere. Even in your own home in your own state where it is legal. Although it is legal in your state it isn't legal in the USA where your state is located.

They've practically got police checkpoints here next to Idaho (I'm in Washington). I'm not into it though and its a little annoying especially since we found out a few weeks ago that my wife and I are expecting, since a couple of my neighbors seem to like the worst smelling stuff imaginable. Odd thing though is after the law was passed and it became "easier" to buy the stuff, our vehicle to pedestrian collisions have skyrocketed.

Congrats, AaronH!

A few years back I was in The Dalles in Oregon, and checked out a dispensary in Dallesport (I think, after looking at a map). I had to stop and check it out. First one ever. Cash only businesses.

Interesting - I was born and raised in Spokane. Spent my first 50 years on the South hill before moving to Oklahoma. Cops used to park at State Line and nab drivers buying fireworks or cigarettes at State Line, Idaho.

I had to head up that way last year for my Uncle's funeral. I flew in to Spokane, and then rented a car and drove down 95 through Colfax. I usually go through Lewiston to get there (the town is Greencreek about 75 miles towards Montana from Lewiston/Clarkston), but I took a beer tour and went through Pullman and Moscow this time instead. No-Li in Spokane makes the greatest beer! I think next time I might fly in to Missoula for a change of scenery. It's the same 3 hour drive.

Man, if you want to take the thrill ride of your life, after leaving Moscow and going south on Hwy 95, take a right turn just past where the 95/195 junction is onto the Old Lewiston Grade (or the Spiral Highway). The views are incredible, the road is in very good shape and used to be the main road in and out of the valley from Lewiston/Clarkston. The 8 mile hwy drops 2,000 feet at a 6-8% grade and has some wicked hairpin turns that can make your knuckles white. Before they put in the new highway, there were stories of logging trucks and steel trucks launching off the side when they lost their brakes. Runaway truck lanes are numerous on the way down. There's some great YouTube videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFCopdKu9Rw

I've been on that road. Literally 100s of times.  And I was on the old road before it was upgraded (no pun intended). And the same goes for White Bird near Grangeville (which is where Desi and Lucy filmed the Long, Long Trailer).

Thanks! Yeah we have a funny feeling its going to be a girl. We have to wait till late April early May to find out though for sure. We have a feeling its a girl because when we were expecting last time, that ended up being a miscarriage, we got a bunch of boy stuff for free from friends.
