Adobe Photoshop / Re: Printing out of PhotoShop
June 24, 2022, 03:18:43 PM
I hate fiddling around with test prints like that. I'm so used to getting a good print the first time with our digital press at work. It's a real drag when I try to print on my home printer and have to do test prints to get okay results.

It's been forever since I've posted.  :o

I'm at a print shop now instead of a newspaper by the way. ;)

Maybe everyone knows about this trick already but here goes anyway.

Have you ever gotten a job that was designed in Photoshop that was full of 4 color blacks that you wanted to be on the black plate only? Here's a trick that works like a charm.

Step 1: Convert to profile ...

Step 2: Click Advanced button ...

Step 3: Pick Custom CMYK ...

Step 4: Pick Maximum for Black Generation setting ...

Step 5: Click OK x2.

Now everything that's supposed to be black should be on the black plate only.

Be sure to embed the profile when you save. You will also need to be sure to use the embedded profile in stead of your working CMYK when you open the file again in Photoshop otherwise the blacks will be on all 4 plates again. :hangme:

Thanks for all the offers for help folks.

I got so busy that I forgot to check back with you later in the day.  :embarrassed:

The live trace of the inkjet is going to work OK, especially since the logo is going to be much smaller than what I scanned from in the final ad.

I ended up scanning the inkjet and doing a live trace in Illy just so we could get to work on the ad. I e-mailed you the file delooch. It would be good to have a properly (?) converted version of the .SIG on file.

I tried that yesterday. No dice.

Oh well, I do have an inkjet printout that I could scan if I have to.  :puke:

Can anyone open a .SIG file? Webpages that I looked up said that it was created by Print Shop ...

Either that or it's an e-mail sig.  :undecided:
