Digital Printing / Xante iQueue Black isn't Black
October 24, 2023, 01:13:30 PM
Saw today on a basic job, that the 100% black in a vector logo was printing light, but the 100% text in the address ran as expected. I did see in one of the Job Options that there are Settings for both Text & Art to print "Black as Black" and also to convert to various rich builds. Ours are set to the default.

Also odd, using the eyedropper in the iQueue software, when a black measures 100% black on screen, it's being 4c built on the output. I fully accept the software is crap, but is it really THIS bad??

Quote from: Tracy on October 19, 2023, 09:56:37 AMdid you update to the new Acro?
I mean, no? I'm always afraid of updates too soon and I know there's a bug already in the latest version that was posted recently. Looks like Enfocus has a hotfix for THAT though, soooo - let's give it a whirl!!

New "feature" plaguing me - whenever I open the Output Preview my PDF will zoom in like 800% regardless of whether I've turned a color on/off. Doesn't seem to matter if I have a Pitstop tool selected or not, and it's happening with every PDF also.

CMS - Proofing - Printers / Epson Tech in Kentucky
October 10, 2023, 10:47:41 AM
Anybody in the greater Kentucky area have a good tech for Epsons? One of our "partner" shops asked who we use, I've got a guy locally, but I don't think he'll travel that far.

Interesting - thanks!

A LOT more work than I'd ever perform, particularly when it didn't even appear on the final piece but at least we can try & tell the customer what NOT to do. I'm sure they'll appreciate the insight.

Quote from: Skryber on September 11, 2023, 08:14:54 AMI have this problem in Illustrator when I outline fonts and then divide them out of shapes. I have to find a work around just to show the proof. Can you open in Illy and try switching the viewing between CPU and GPU to see if it changes? I'm interested too if you want to send me the file.
Nah, CPU vs. GPU made no difference. I'll PM ya the file link though.

Adobe Acrobat / Re: Errant Object in Preview

Huh, I resaved the original out of Illustrator (since it was an Illy PDF to start with) and the weird object disappeared with OS Quicklook. It kinda doesn't show up in Preview, except for certain magnification levels. I did notice a "cover-up" box they added below that area, but whether I delete it or not - doesn't matter.

Right, I told them the same thing - just curious why it didn't show up in wireframe even. It's a brand new (larger) client so trying to set 'em on the right path from the get go - we'll see how that goes.

Adobe Acrobat / Errant Object in Preview

Strange one, trying to Soft proof a PDF out and client is complaining of an "odd item" above a letter in the Proof. Can't see it in Acrobat but it definitely shows in Preview or Spacebar-Quicklook in the Finder OS. (I know, I know - neither one is the right way to check a PDF, but I can see what they mean at least. I assume they're viewing on mobile.)

Attaching the Preview & the wireframe from Pitstop to show there's NOTHING there. I ran an Epson to assure them it's not going to print, just not sure wtf it is in the first place! Leftover "ghost" object from Illustrator maybe?

There was one, I got in about 20 minutes late but they definitely had it running. Some stuff about adding a Varnish layer, Preflight Profiles and whatnot. I wasn't paying a lot of attention and then I had to jump into another internal thing. Maybe look for the replay?
