What mattbeals one word means (translated by yours truly):

Go under Image > Calculations.
There you can merge the spot channels into a new channel, plus choose the blend and even create a new document of the merged channels.

Does that clear that hotmetal? Obviously, matt is a person of few words.

Its hard to believe that is how things where done in our industry.
Such museums should be saved because I don't thing people really realized how printing changed our world.
I hope they save this museum.

How did you know?!
Today isn't going to be much better. Xerox guy reset our 700 back to factory settings, lost all our spot colors and templates. But its our fault, we forgot to back them up, but luckily we had only a few spot colors and templates to remake. We had one of those "Duh" moments.

General Prepress / Prepress Sign
January 13, 2010, 07:18:37 PM
While I was on the phone with Xerox, listening to their elevator music while on hold during a nearly 1 1/2 hour of being passed from one person to another. I was thinking, if management would let me put up a sign to the entrance of prepress, this is what it would say:

"Notice: Please remove all sharp objects from one's possession before entering. Do NOT stare at the prepress person, especially when he is talking with the 'little people' in the Xerox copier. Also, Do NOT look the prepress person in the eye as this tends to lead to objects being thrown. If the prepress person has a sharp object in his possession, back away slowly and head to the nearest exit. Immediately inform management of the situation, you will then be escorted to the parking lot with all other evacuated employees. Do NOT for any reason re-enter the building until the SWAT team has entered the building and subdued the prepress person. We hope you enjoyed your visit. Have a Nice Day."

Of course, I'm sure management wouldn't go for it. The 'little people' in the Xerox like the idea!

General Prepress / Re: Using XPS in prepress
January 13, 2010, 08:09:13 AM
We haven't receive any XPS files, yet.
But is Microsoft XPS a good thing or a bad thing for prepress? I prefer to stick to Adobe PDFs since we have few problems, especially when prepress creates them. We often do end up making them since none of our clients know what a PDF is.

Thanks for the heads up DCurry.
In the next few weeks, we are getting a new Prinergy server since the hardware is going bad, so they decided to upgrade us at the same time.
Add a new iMac with a new OS into the mix and for some reason I see trouble.
Upgrades tend to not go smooth.

Quote from: ratintrap on January 12, 2010, 07:30:54 AMSyphon, you need to ask Joe for access to Social, we've got this thread going there already.

That's where the bar is. All of the shenanigans go on there.

You're kidding! I swear I am like the last person on this planet to find this site. :embarrassed:
Is there anyone out there who don't know about this website?

Hey DCurry, have you had any further problems running Snow Leopard?
We are about to get a new iMac running Snow Leopard to replace an old G4.

I thought you guys would really enjoy this site. I am sure we all can add a few horror stories.
I know I can, that's why they keep sharp objects away from me.

I zipped all our fonts before we upgraded our Macs. Somehow the zip folder preserved the fonts when we upgraded to Tiger. I unzipped them on the new Mac when we got it and they work find. Of course, this doesn't help if the server or fonts are dead.
