I know there a bunch of vids (http://www.enfocus.com/en/products/pitstop-pro/videos/#demos-and-tutorials) on their site, good a place as any to start! I need to run through them too, been having trouble doing some stupidly basic things in Pitstop lately.  :embarrassed:

I've gone through all the vids on the site and there is very good info there.

As per earlier mentions here; familiarise yourselves with vector boxes now with drag points, and image editing from within Inspector.

Seems to cover 90% of the stuff you'd want to do to an image in a PDF. I still crack occasionally into PhSh for stuff like cloning problem areas... stuff like that. But even that seems a little smoother in Acrobat XI.

No plans to do that, and you should be aware the last time it was because of the changes Adobe made in Acrobat X.

We would much rather develop new things believe me.

I still find it wonky compared to v7... but that was made a long time ago. You have to expect things will change and just as I had to learn it before, I'll just adapt again.

Of course but the handles that are there do not always work. Like I mentioned, I can grab them and pull them out with Acrobat XI but not in Acrobat X.
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12

can you send me the example joe?

I would like to understand why
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Joe on September 18, 2014, 05:32:53 PM
It is not any certain PDF file. It is every PDF. In Acrobat 10 I cannot grab a handle and resize whether it is text, image, or a vector object. The same PDF opened in Acrobat XI and I can grab the handle and resize it.
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Joe on September 18, 2014, 06:35:51 PM
I just updated to Acrobat X to the recently released Acrobat X 10.1.12 and now I can grab the handles and re-size objects. Weird stuff.

That's how I used to do it. Once the handles showed up, it's my standard backup. I can usually grab the handles, but sometimes it's tricky; takes three or four attempts.

We have so many people on these it's impossible to enable speech

so it's listen or contribute on the chat window

we'll follow up either in the session or afterwards.

They are all recorded and the links made available.

We also have an 'official Enfocus PitStop user group' on Linked as a place to continue discussion and interaction.

Bottom link, lurk or get involved, either is fine

Slow today, practicing Pitstop Actions
I'm trying to create an action that enlarges the media box to 8.75x11.25
I got it to work (I think) but I only see the new pages size
if I click on show page boxes, It imports into indy at the new size,
but at the bottom left it still says 8.5x11 (unless I click on show pages boxes)

imports into xmf at 8.75x11.25 too
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Joe on December 19, 2014, 12:10:16 PM
When you import into Indy check the little box that says something like "show import options". In there you tell it whether to import via media box, bleed box, trim box, etc...
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Tracy on December 19, 2014, 01:31:17 PM
I think my grammar messed you up :embarrassed:

I import in indy fine,
unless I have pitstops view page boxes on
the pdf in acro says it is 8.5x11
with the view page box on it says it's 8.75x11.25

crop box, art box, aiyai yai

Post by: Joe on December 19, 2014, 01:44:12 PM
Yeah I was just getting ready to post that. Acrobat displays the crop box size so do them both the same in your action list.

It's a horrible webex proprietary format. The best thing to do is download it and use a .arf player that you can download from webex.

BTW registration now open for the March 4th workshop. You can do it via a link on www.enfocus.com

Look for ADD OBJECT in the ADD category, then select the TEXT option (line|rectangle|elipse|text), the added action will then display as Add Text. Can you find that in your version?

Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Joe on August 28, 2015, 10:07:00 AM
You have to hold the COMMAND key down to use the arrow keys. I think there is aPitstop preference you can change so you don't have to. (I think)
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Farabomb on August 28, 2015, 10:11:14 AM
I think I have used the arrow kets in the past without the command key.

(I think)
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Joe on August 28, 2015, 10:14:54 AM
The preference is just for dragging it with the mouse. I leave it turned off so I don't accidentally move something when clicking around. Then I have to hold the COMMAND key down to move it either with the mouse or via the arrow keys on the keyboard. I know for the keyboard that has been in at least version 12 and 13.
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Farabomb on August 28, 2015, 10:16:26 AM
I'm on 12 and you select > click on the move icon > click your selection again and you can move it with the arrow keys.

I didn't try the command button. BRB.

Command makes it mad and it crashes. Method above works here.
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Joe on August 28, 2015, 10:22:29 AM
Ahhhh nevermind. I never use the move tool. If you select something with the inspector tool you can move the object by holding down the COMMAND key and using either your mouse or the keyboard arrow keys which is the way I move most things. With the actual move tool you do not have to hold the COMMAND key down. Sorry for the confusion. I'll wake up eventually.

That was all good info, I don't know what's wrong with me

having to select again.

But I like Command, inspector tool move even better!

Thanks guys!
Title: Re: Learning Pitstop 12
Post by: Farabomb on August 28, 2015, 11:23:08 AM
It didn't used to be like that. I remember in 7 you could just select, hit move and then the arrows. You could also do a select similar then hit delete but now you have to click on delete in the drop down menu.

I don't think it's pitstop's fault. I have a feeling it has to be this way with all the new "features" in the new versions of acrobat.
