I saw a used copy of Photoshop CS the other day at the local GoodWill operated computer store, for only $20.
It is a legit copy and I am thinking about buying it for a FRIEND ... because all my programs are legit, legal and above board!

Anyone tell me any cons of buying second hand programs (considering I KNOW this isn't just a burnt version) as I was thinking about buying it and maybe even paying for the trade-up???

Any help, advice, stories of experience appreciated ...

If it's been registered, you won't be able to register it, and won't be able to upgrade. It should install and work. CS1 didn't have the activation stuff that later versions had, but since you can't contact the previous owner, you can't find out if it's been registered or not.
I got a copy of the whole CS suite on Ebay that had never been registered, and that all worked fine.
