Quote from: Joe on March 25, 2024, 06:09:34 AMSometimes when a product has been discontinued they remove licensing restrictions. I have no idea if they did that with this product but you could try it and see.
I gave it a shot but no luck.

Quote from: Joe on March 22, 2024, 06:35:51 AMShould be able to download it here: Dynagram Archive
They only have the download available for 7.0 and above so I doubt BSPrint's dongle would work if it was 6.0ish.

Yea. I'm gonna milk it to the end while I learn to perfect Preps.

Kodak Preps / Re: Sending jdf's
July 08, 2022, 12:35:37 PM
Ok, so I went into AE and made a new workflow that points to the Preps jdf marks folder in the "create imposition from runlist" module. This way I can continue to use either Dynastrip on one workflow and Preps on the other. Problem solved. Thanks to all for helping me to think this through!

Victory! I copied the files and put them in the marks folder AE was looking for and everything showed up. It's a work around but I bet I can figure out a way for AE to put it in the right spot so I don't have to do that. Even if I do, its not a big deal.

I found it, it's going to a sub folder inside of the designated folder I am sending it to. It needs to be outside for AE to see it.

Quote from: DCurry on July 08, 2022, 10:35:32 AMOops, I might have misunderstood your question. You're saying you send the JDF, but AE can't find the marks?
Correct. I am on 9.5 and it the same drop down for printing which sends the JDF, but it only sends the image. No marks, colorbars, side guides, show up. In Automation Engine (Esko) there is a designated folder that the marks go to and it puts them together with the template when you run a job. In Dynastrip, you can choose that "marks" folder, and it separates the marks form the image when you "print" the template, but I see no option of that in Preps. So in other words, Automation Engine is "looking" for the marks but they are not there because there is no way (that I know of) to direct them there. I hope that makes sense.

Kodak Preps / Sending jdf's
July 08, 2022, 09:04:05 AM
So, all is going well with Preps and I have learned a lot in the last week, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. However, I am stumped on sending jdf files. In Dynastrip, there is a "jdf options" box where it will send the marks and the colorbars to the "marks" folder in Automation Engine (our rip). I cannot find that place in Preps 9.5 in the print dialog, so when I send the jdf to Automation Engine and then run a job using that template, only the image shows up, of course. Anyone know how to do this?

Quote from: RMPrepress on June 23, 2022, 06:53:09 AMWe print the B Side first on perfecting jobs so you need the color bar at the tail or middle which we also do.
Preps will always put it at the gripper on side B when choosing perfecter as the type of run.
That picture i sent works out perfect (pardon the pun) its on the tail on each side...remember Preps is already flipping the pages for you once you choose perfecting. so you want the bars at the tail or middle if there is room.
You should always have your color bars at tail/back edge...middle if it is necessary, like on book block layouts that leave no room at the tail you will have double that space in the middle so it fits easier in that scenario.

We do the same. We have scanners on our presses and everything has to be at one side of the sheet or the other in order for the scanner to read it. But I guess they could fold the sheet and read it if I had to. Food for thought.

Quote from: DigiCorn on June 22, 2022, 10:25:24 PMAlso, don't forget that the gripper on the reverse of a Perfector is also opposite. On the front, you can't run off the tail like a Sheetwise, because it ends up in the gripper on the other side, so you have to move down the color bar on the top of the sheet. We used to run our color bars through the middle of the sheet, but I can see from your impo that's not an option.
Yea, Ive been running it just below the gripper on perfecting jobs, it's never been a problem.

Quote from: RMPrepress on June 22, 2022, 01:13:07 PMWell thats the thing...you see, you can create a smart mark set that includes both of the bars you just setup and you can add them with one click to every form.
I think you have a ways to go before learning that but it is a game changer for sure.
You could also include a slug or any other mark you wish and add them all at once.
That will be a must so I don't have to deal with it every time. Thank you for your help.
