That's what I would do.

Gamma 1.8 makes it Grayscale, not Black and White

Better could be done with a PitStop Pro action list.

This worked great. Thank You so much.

Quote from: swampymarsh on December 09, 2014, 07:01:51 PMJoe, I believe that those are all *grayscale* profiles, not *black and white* profiles (yes, there is a difference)!

P.S. I believe that this is a Mac OS thing, unless using an older OS or a Windows OS you are probably shit out of luck in returning to your previous workflow (unless somebody has an ICC profile that can make gray tones black only).

The profiles Joe is showing are Grayscale. I have tried all the dot gain settings  but colors still come out as grayscale not solid Black.

It is definitely a OS thing because it was working the day before I updated to 10.7.5.

Adobe InDesign / Convert to Destination

On a Mac running 10.6.8 we have been using Indesign CS6  to place CMYK technical drawing pdfs. ( these drawings have lines made of various colors)  we would then export to pdf & under output/ color we would set COLOR CONVERSION to Convert To Destination and under DESTINATION set to Black and White. This would make all lines solid Black. Since updating our OSX to 10.7.5 Black and White is no longer an option under DESTINATION.
Does anyone know of a way to get the Black & White option back or an easy work around.
Could this be a bug in 10.7.5?
Could someone at a higher OSX see if Black and White returned?
We have tried using CC & CC 2014 but still no Black and White.
I have attached a screen capture

Quote from: Ear on October 31, 2014, 03:25:43 PMAnd I agree with Joe about the position thing, don't understand why position changes.

We are running 14'' forms with a 28"" cut off.
So say there is a Black Screen that runs all the way to the bottom of the page,
you would need to move that copy up to get it out of the gap.
And on that same page you have a CMY sreeen that runs all the way to the top of the page you would have to move that copy down to get it out of the gap. Thus the different starting positions.

Rampage uses FPO's in preps.

Quote from: Joe on October 31, 2014, 03:20:08 PMI'm still confused so I don't know. Still trying to wrap my head around how your individual separations are in different position.

On webs they can rotate their cylinders so copy in different starting positions match up.

Thanks for all your help, I guess I will be staying with 5.3.

So do you think this would be possible in preps 6?
Or would it be way to time consuming?

Quote from: Joe on October 30, 2014, 07:35:12 PMIYou don't have a different signature for each color do you?

Not all the time, but yes.
On web presses there isn't a traditional gripper margin. You just have to make sure copy doesn't go into the gap.
So if there is copy say in Black close to the head of the piece but not at the foot you have to push the Black starting position back away from the gap.
Some colors may be close to the foot, so you have to move them up.
I hope this makes sense.

Quote from: Joe on October 30, 2014, 06:24:15 PMMy guess is that your G5 is not on the same network address. On the older Mac or PC that does see the new modem what is the IP address of those? What is the IP address of the G5 running 10.4.11? What IP address do you use to access the modem on the Mac that is working? What is the subnet address of all of those devices too? Are some using DHCP while others are connectiong via manual settings?

All were using DHCP, While on with tech support we did try to connect manually but had not luck.

Kodak Preps / Preps 6 multiple sigs question
October 30, 2014, 06:37:47 PM
Hi all I have been lurking for awhile and have been reading about preps 6.
I am kinda confused about only 1 sig per template that some people are talking about.
I am currently using preps 5.3 and for our web business form presses we have multiple sigs in 1 template
Example:
Sig 1a is used for the top Black
Sig 2a is used for top Cyan
Sig 3a is used for top Mag & Yellow
Sig 4b is used for backs.
All have different distance to punch starting points.
Is something like this possible in preps 6?
