Title: buying xerox 242... rip opinions?
Post by: agent_orange on April 29, 2010, 08:41:03 AM
so it looks like we're getting a 242, probably in the next month or so. sales guy sent minimal info on rip options. basically, the choices are:

fiery bustled controller with command workstation 4.5
efi fiery color server
creo spire color server

we currently have a doc 12 with a fiery x12e v 1.0. i guess i'm somewhat familiar with the fiery even though it's a pretty old version but if we're gonna make a change now's the time to do it. anybody with any of these setups have opinions on the pros and cons of them?

We had a 240 until two years ago with a bustled Fiery. I wish we still had that. We've got a Xerox 700 now, and when printing jobs with color photos from a previously printed piece, the pix look lousy compared to how the 240 did them.
From what I've seen on other forums, some people don't like the Creo, but those who do Really like them. It's more complicated, but has more options.
