Book files to Smartstream

Can I output a book file (multiple files combined in a book list) to Smartstream from Indesign CS6?

I don't know Smartstream, specifically, but I think exporting to PDF, prior to printing, would be better than printing direct from InDesign. PDF is a form of normalization and is always a good preflight step between design and print.

only problem would be, it wouldn't be imposed.

I don't think you can do that (I use SmartStream a lot).

You could export to PDF, then place that PDF into a new ID file and then impo that (SS has a "New document from PDF" command that facilitates the placing of the PDF into the new document pretty easily).
