Fujifilm XMF / TIFF Bypass workflow
January 19, 2012, 12:08:45 PM
Anyone using a TIFF Bypass workflow?
Wondering if XMF can re-group pre-separated 1 Bit TIFFs?
The help menu seems to suggest that you have to re-link files to colors.

Dying with XMF ......
Same issues where Proof is always good, yet plates have "mechanical" issues, and different PMS to CMYK conversions - it's getting silly now.
Rasterized PDF from XMF to Oris Color Tuner Web. (the 2 RIP system still confuses me)

My question is....
On or Off - "Use Creative Suite Blending" in the Overprint Menu?

Goal is to have a Proof that Mechanically Matches the Plates. Does not matter if proof is wrong or not, as long as the plates are the same.
Currently, proofs always come out as expected, and way too often for my liking, Plate have "issues" that usually going back to file, make PS file, Distilling, and Replacing fixes "issues".

Wonder if I am getting too old for this.

Is it possible to Archive a Single Job to a Specific Network location?
Example:
Select job, Select Archive, Select Location: //Mac Files/Job Folders/Native Files and PDFs - and Save.

Quark Xpress / Quark 8.5 PC - Damaged PDF?
August 11, 2011, 02:55:25 PM
When Printing / PDF Export, get "blah, blah, blah, PDF is Damaged and will output as Low Resolution"
Seems random.
I was thinking memory error.

Thanks for any replies.

Looking for suggestions / solutions to Customer requests of a "Ripped PDF"
They, as do I, would like a PDF that will look like the final printed piece - not color critical, but mechanically sound, readable type, small enough to email, and opens in Adobe Reader.

Thanks for any input!

Fujifilm XMF / Proofing "issues" in New XMF Install
June 29, 2011, 06:51:47 AM
Hello All,

New to XMF (version 3.0) and have proofing "issues".....
We are getting different results on Plate vs. PDF Export for Proofing. The PDF exports look great, just the like original PDF, but the Plates show different / defects.
Looking for a reliable way to make a Proof that resembles what will show on Plate.
We would prefer not to have to Strip / Impose the job before proofing - as we do not always (rarely) know which Press a job will run on.
I am playing with the "Finished PDF" option now.

Current "workflow" is:
PDF Export as PDF 1.7 with "Low Res" Action List for Customer Viewing via Email
PDF Export as PDF 1.7 to Oris Color Tuner for High Res Proof
Strip / Impose - make "Layout Proof" using the Rip Proof option to drive Epson 7600 - this seems very reliable to match Plate, just not good for Color

Thanks for any input

The "learning curve" has been $teep
