Sorry Joe, was looking forward to asking the boss for his credit card  :drunk3: but Adobe wouldn't let me.

See my earlier statement "The thing about it is that a lot of Adobe employees that monitor the Adobe forums do not even know the licensing terms and they actually tell people you can use the license on two computers at the same time. I blame Adobe for that."

Yes, we called a prepress guy that works for another company this morning and he said they run a license on 2 machines.

So frikken confusing.

So you can't run 100 Macs on fifty licenses but they'll give you 2 on 1? That's the only thing I can surmise from all this or tech support is just detached from company policy.

Anyways it's working, we have a record of what happened in the chat session, bring on the software police if need be and they can talk to our lawyer.

No. You misunderstood me. Yes you can run 100 Macs on fifty licenses just like you can run 2 on one license. Still violates the terms of use. But I think Adobe might actually care if they found people doing the former.

Yeah, maybe we're just chickenfeed here.

A few more years and the software we run here will be public domain.

Was back on Adobe remote assistance again this afternoon.

Had an older document open and tried to import an updated pdf into it. Every time I did it crashed InDesign. Tried multiple times with multiple pdf's same problem. Uninstalled, installed, same problem.

Support did a remote and created a NEW document and imported the pdf. No issue. So they claim the file was corrupt. Ok, makes sense never seen it before but okay, things are working again.

Just posting this in case this is an "opening an older version in 2018" and getting corruption issue. Could be, could  :drunk3: be....

Joe

Oh yeah. I would have tried that first before all of that uninstalling/re-installing, talking to Adobe, pulling your hair out, drinking etc...  :sarcasm:

Yeah, well I was a little jumpy about CC after all the other problems we were having and have never seen a corrupt inDesign file before. Corrupt salesman, corrupt pressman, yes, but not an Indesign file. As for the drinking, well any reason for drinking is good in my books, so thanks Adobe! As for pulling out my hair? There is not much left, if I pulled it all out, nobody would notice anyways.

Didja ever think it might fix your Acrobat issue? Nevermind there wasn't an update to Acrobat. Adobe witchdoctory in the other apps may fix it system wide. And if you believe that....well you know. ;D

hahahahahaha... yeah...nah... i never thought they would fix it...
but it is funny to find quite a few others with the exact issue, and different system software etc, the only common thing is Acrobat CC, and most have pitstop as well, not sure if all of them do
