Will try that next time DCS, but it "sometimes" happens with a single page 4up impo??

Thanks for the responses guys... still happening, just haven't had the chance to come back on and reply...

This happens to more than on job, not every job though... (in saying that we just tried the job that sparked me to post something again but this time it only produced a 2pp pdf not 4 like it did previously!)

We impose supplied pdfs in indd 5 or 5.5, and print ps, then distill. Yes, old school but we've been through a phase a while ago exporting pdfs and had too many issues with effects dropping off.

Our rip is Curries Express Workflow... who know's how old... I've been here over 4 years and I know it was here a while before I got here.

And yes, we're on Mac's...  I think I've answered all the questions...

Frailer, pity I've only looked on here now... hope you've been staying dry on far north coast NSW... not much better in Brisbane though, cold and overcast!!

To add to that it is happening on two different machines  :angry:

We impose using InDesign, both 5 and 5.5, and are having a really bizarre thing of pages duplicating themselves when printing to postscript. 

Job can be as simple as a 4up impo single page document but when distilled we end up getting two pages of the same image. Needless to say when doing books it can get quite dangerous!!
Yesterday I imposed a 96pp yearbook (did them in sections to make it easier on the rip to handle). Had 4 indd doc's, made of 3 sections each, NL & FL, so each doc had 6 pages. First ps file distilled and gave me 6 pages ... correct, second one distilled and gave me 6 pages ... correct, third one distilled and gave me 7 pages – page 5 duplicated???  ??

Has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone know of any fixes?

Is there any way to change the way CS5 Steps and Repeats? ie. not holding on to the original item. Because when imposing business cards it gets quite painful to step 55, then 5, then 55...  :angry:

No, no logic board replaced... nothing has changed... One day it was working, the next it wasn't. No hardware or software changes.

No matter what I've tried my Quark won't launch anymore...  (I don't like Quark at the best of times but now it's really giving me the shits!!)

Currently we're backing up to two dvd's, on stays on the premises and the copy doesn't, but due to time it takes to organise files to fit on a dvd am looking at a couple of 2TB external hard drives. My question is ... at the moment we use a free program called autocat to catalog what we back up. Is there a program that is able to be used to catalog an external hard drive? Or how can I do that?

Yes, it was originally checked, but once unchecked fixed my issue.

Just found this in help... lol, it's been bugging me...

Choose how relinked graphics are scaled
When you relink to replace one graphic with a different source file, you can keep the image dimensions of the file that's being replaced, or you can display the incoming file in its actual dimensions.

Choose Edit > Preferences > File Handling (Windows) or InDesign > Preferences > File Handling (Mac OS).
Choose Preserve Image Dimensions When Relinking if you want images to appear at the same size as the images they're replacing. Deselect this option to have relinked images appear at their actual size.

Yep, just hitting 7.30am here in sunny Brisbane

I've tried all the options when placing, and got a lot worse results, but none better than 103% lol... obviously something to keep an eye out for....
But in saying that, I placed a pdf into a new doc and the trim size was 105mm and it was correct at 100% and I step and repeated it to place another doc that I new was smaller (80mm) and it made it to fit the original box not just place the art at 100%. I've also noticed that when placing our colour bar on impo's we can't just click and drag the box tool to where we need it to be as it reduces it to fit the box... I wonder if there's a setting somewhere.
BTW, now that I've rambled enough lol, thanks for all your help - love your work....

It's a bit late now that i'm half way through updating the impo. I just thought it was bizarre that it happens, and wondering if anyone else came across it.
