The Rest... / Wasatch Softrip 7.2
December 18, 2023, 08:06:15 PM
We have an old PC running Windows 7 that has Wasatch Softrip 7.2 which is the rip for our Anapurna M2 Flatbed Printer.

I have set up a Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection from the Mac to this computer and have no issues connecting.

Problem arises when I access the Rip via MRD.

Softrip runs a dongle on the PC that has licensing on it.

Softrip is not recognising the dongle when accessed from Mac through MRD.

Any suggestions?

Adobe Acrobat / Recombining separated PDF's
August 09, 2023, 04:24:31 PM
I have one client who occasionally sends in separated pdf's, apparently that is all he has access to. Major pain in ass to process to plate.

Anyone know of an easy way to recombine back to single composite pdf.

Only way I have been able to find to do it is to take into photoshop and do it there, but lose all vector and end with only raster file.

I can make a separated file from composite, there just seems no way to go back the other way that I can find in Acrobat or Pitstop.

Cheers.

CTP - CTF / The platesetter I'm currently using
May 15, 2023, 02:59:09 PM
I didn't want to hijack Impodave's for sale post so:

Our version of Dia Nippon platesetter.

Auto loader, Accento, Azura plate processor and plate stacker.

100 plate capacity in loader, about 3  1/2 minutes per 670 x 560 size plate once it gets going, First plate takes about 5 minutes from realise from Apogee to delivery finished on stacker.

Adobe Acrobat / Cleanup trim area in pitstop
August 10, 2022, 05:09:44 PM
I occasionally use the cleanup trim area in pitstop to fix up files that have all sorts of crap that I don't want on the pdf like bleed marks, registration marks, color bars, trim marks too close to trim etc.

There is the option of putting in new crop marks and you can select either quark trims or Indesign trims.

The Indesign trims by default are too close and the Quark ones are too far away.

Is there any way to adjust how far from the trim box / bleed box that marks start/finish.

Ideally I like a final PDF to have a 10mm gutter all around between media box and trim box with a bleed box 3mm all round larger than trim box. I like my trims to start at edge of media box and extent inwards to the bleed box. (My OCD kicking in)

I can create these parameters from Indesign when exporting a pdf, but can't get what I would like from Pitstop.

Over to the Pitstop gurus. Thanks

Agfa Systems / Agfa Apogee
February 24, 2022, 02:29:14 PM
Is anyone else using Agfa Apogee workflow?

We previously had a Prinergy Evo workflow coupled to a Creo Scitex Lotem Platesetter and when it was dying were able to pick up a second hand Agfa Accento II platesetter with Apogee 10.0 (which has had no upgrades in 5 years >:( >:( )

I see a bit of chatter on Prinergy (which I liked when we had it) but nothing on Apogee. Both systems have their good and not so good properties.

It would be nice to have someone who is not Agfa support (at $240 hour for telephone support) to bounce ideas/problem solving off if anyone is out there

Adobe Acrobat / Unable to reach Adobe servers
September 23, 2021, 03:41:32 PM
Hi, We have an issue with Acrobat being unable to reach the adobe servers to verify subscription status. This issues cropped up about 8 weeks ago.

Our server is an HP ProLiant350p running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. It is our Apogee server. I understand that this is an older OS, but it works fine for Apogee and in our environment. Upgrading is not currently an option.

The copy of Acrobat is our second use of Licence, other allowed copy is running fine on Mac.

Nothing changed overnight that we can pinpoint, working one night, not the next morning. Previously, it had been running fine without issue for over 12 months.

Have gone through every suggestion that Adobe has in their troubleshooting guide numerous times, we can see the logos when checking if we can connect to Adobe server, internet works on our server, no firewall in place, creative cloud uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, as has Acrobat been.

Anyone else encountered this issue or have any suggestions as to how to resolve it?

Thanks,
Geoff
