I know enough about networking to be dangerous. I kinda grasp the idea. And I know that it's almost esoteric in nature.
So here's my question:

What would cause a Mac to be sitting idle to display a message that it's IP address has been taken by another user?
We had to renew the DCHP lease to get a new address and the mac had it's connectivity again.

Moments before that happened the Mac hooked up to our plotter did the same thing.

Any ideas as to what's going on? We've been having IP issues for a couple weeks now. Not just the macs, seems everyday there's some sort of conflict we're chasing down.
currently Prepress can't see our server. we are dead in the water. I really should go to the beach today. 
Bad switch?

Here's a possible clue. 2 Friday's ago our service was disconnected by comcast, we had it restored about an hour later. This is also when our problems seem to have started.

When trying to activate fonts in Suitcase Fusion 12.1.7 the program gives an error of "the font activation cannot complete due to an OS activation error".

Is this a preferences issue? Or something else more demonic?  :laugh:

Got a little problem with Firefox.
Whenever a link that's a downloadable file like a Dropbox file, or PDFs is clicked a new tab opens but the "Save As" dialogue box does not appear. The only way to download the file is to right click.

Anyone ever heard/had this issue? HALP!

We have a typical set-up here. Macs in Prep, windoze everywhere else. What kind of server would you recommend?

Currently we have a D-Link 353 (or something like that) and we are having connectivity issues with the Macs. The Windoze machine are fine, but the Macs slow waaay down, and sometimes it seems only one of us in prep at a time can access the server. (any info/suggestions on this issue would be appreciated, too.)

Does anyone here have/use a Canon iPF8100 (or similar machine)?

I know I've got to convert the VOC first. What software should I use? Any suggestions?
Front what I understand I need to convert the VOC to a SWF file first before I insert it.

I'm on day two of experiencing this and the clipboard worked this morning. I'm coming the intertubes but not coming up with any good info yet, so I figured I'd post here and see what happens.

Customer now has original, and she doesn't know the actual size.
What is the math to get back to the original size?

Copy quality is poor, unless it's on 20# bond. It leaves marks on the copies. It's all made of plastic and we've replace quite a few plastic parts. This machine is only 2.5 years old.
It's not like we're Stinkos where there's a bunch of lame-brained no-trained employees slamming the machine around, we treat our machines with respect.
The Fiery is weird, it'll back up jobs wrong, for instance, if I make my duplex settings "top to top" most times the job comes out backed up "top to bottom". (I do not have this problem with our KM Bizhub Fiery?). I'll send jobs over to the Xerox Fiery and it won't have any of it's settings.
And the service tech is a douche who thinks he knows everything.

The kicker is they sold this machine to us a Production machine with quality.
In fact it's a machine for QUANTITY, not quality. So they sold the machine with a lie. Turds. 
About 6 months ago my boss/owner finally agreed, it's a piece of junk. Unless you sell shitty copies for a living.
