Quote from: gnubler on January 30, 2013, 10:17:36 AMPrinter Presence wants like 8 grand just to get setup. Pressero is more like 2 grand. From what I learned yesterday, Pressero will download a press-ready PDF (either 1up or impo'd) to a location of your choice (hot folder on RIP) if that's what you desire. It also talks with Print Point (job ticket system) to a certain degree and I'm trying to get more info on that part.
That's exactly what I'd like! Right now, even after the 4-5 steps to retrieve the generated PDF, they're manually imposing all these tiny jobs through InDesign to boot! Insanity.

Printlinqs does all that stuff too... for less $$$.

I've checked out Printlinqs and it seems it would cost way more. Don't they only give you 1 or 2 private B2B storefronts? We need unlimited as we expect to add customers on demand.

That's just it; you use one storefront, and then control others via logins and passwords so you're not creating a new site for each customer. You control access via logins, so one customer is not seeing any other customers' stuff.

You get 2 storefronts when you sign up; basically one live site and one test site.

Do you find Printlinqs admin/backend easy to use & navigate? Our current provider, Print Science, is a nightmare which is why we want to switch. I'm probably at intermediate level when it comes to web dev and it is a struggle every time I have to make a change on the website. Today I wasted 30 minutes trying to create a new navigation link before having to contact tech support. With a good system it should not be that difficult.

I think the design of how you do things is really clunky... but I am definitely a web novice, and I mostly get it (how to operate PrintlinQs). Helps if you know CSS for design - we just hired a guy to do that part, but I set up all of the pricing and products. Tech support from ePower/racad is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the warning, that's what I'm trying to avoid. I'm doing another webinar demo with someone this morning, I'll let you know what I find out.

Anything new on this front? Been tasked with looking at possible alternatives to PrintersPresence and I still have all of my notes from a year ago with the likes of Pressero, Printlinqs,  Print Science etc. but just wondering if there's anything new & wonderful? Digi: You still with printlinqs and relatively happy? God I forgot how awful their site is, no way I can use that mess to pitch it as a possible entry.

Do not sign up with PrintScience unless they've improved their service. Huge learning curve for a novice, and for an intermediate they didn't perform as promised. If you want a web2print system that works, they can't help you.

I'm still involved with the Pressero site at my ex-shop and still recommend it. It has so many features that a smaller shop will never use, but they're there. Medium learning curve, but I found their support to be speedy & knowledgeable.

I spent DAYS doing research on various web2print providers last year and Pressero came out the leader for the money & features.

Excellent, thanks! Does Pressero provide everything as a package, or do you have to add-on Features as you go? I see they offer Automated Impo, Lights Out Automation and some other things I'd want to have, are those part of the package your ex-shop purchased? I'm thinking we're in the "Professional" category which still lacks the Custom Web Skins. Any chance you could ballpark the cost too?

Creepy, I just looked at their Plans page and within 15 seconds one of their support staff (with a name I recognize) popped up a chat window. I hate that.

Anyway, I think my ex-shop went with the Std plan and then had to add on something for e-commerce/payment gateway. When they signed up about a year ago it was something like $1200 startup and $400/mo. I remain involved with the web2print part of it (edocbuilder) and the shit actually works! They have extensive tutorials & help articles and I was ready to go after a couple hours of training. Template customization is fairly limited, but you can change a few things and their templates are decent to begin with.

They spent hours on the phone with me doing initial training and responded to emails the same day.

Printlinqs blows goats, but it works, and support is top tier. You're dealing with fucking Canadians, and English is a second language to many of them.
