Digital Printing / Variable Data software
February 18, 2016, 10:22:22 AM
Looking for input on variable data software. Good and bad. Currently using Fusionpro VDP Creator and don't have an operator with extensive training or experience. Company is growing and could be expanding our variable data services. Trying to figure if we have the right software and just need to training or do we need to switch software and then do the training on the new.

Pressroom / Pressroom and plant wide lighting
October 06, 2015, 06:55:33 AM
Looking to see what other companies are doing. Recently our owner came back from peer group meeting and decided we need 5k lighting throughout the building. Normally would say this would be great but recently we have had suppliers in here telling us of a trend towards not using 5k lighting since the majority of the customers don't utilize 5k. Plant manager ( an experienced pressman) likes to make all final calls on press set ups based on taking proofs and press sheets out to will lit lobby that gets plenty of sunlight.
We have had issues in the past in which our press sheets match the proofs under 5k lights in the viewing booth but customer unhappy once they see the product in their offices.
Just trying to get some feed back on what is going trend in the industry.

General Prepress / PDF comparisons
July 30, 2015, 07:50:03 AM
Any suggestions on software to do content comparisons between two pdf's. Would like to be able to compare a before and after version of a pdf after making customer requested alterations to client files. Previously on Prinergy and used Kodak's PDF compare feature in the Kodak tools in Acrobat. We have switched to Fuji's XMF and are in need of a suitable replacement. Have used the built in compare feature in Acrobat but most of our files are PDF's out of Illustrator and Acrobat balks on them giving us a "File is too complex" message. Most solutions am finding online  are more suited strictly text document pdf's.
