Esko / Re: Esko & DCS / Copy dot files
February 26, 2018, 09:59:25 PM
My guess is that the error is coming because Esko's wrapped PDF is using external links. While this isn't proprietary to Esko it is pretty much only used by them with their normalized PDFs. Kodak (as well as most of the PDF workflows) are looking for a fully embedded PDF without external links.

Esko / Re: AE, Workflow Trap Tickets & Images
February 26, 2018, 09:55:01 PM
This is a pretty common problem with most trapping engines. The problem is really with PDF. When you trap in Esko it is actually trapping a normalized PDF. When the file is converted to PDF the image will always appear as a rectangle (The picture box). So the trapping engines attempt to trap the picture box to the background, regardless of what the content or lack of content is of the image.

I worked for Artwork systems and Esko for 10+ years. I know their software very well. Now I am with Hybrid. We have a cool little trick in our trapping engine that is called vectorize opacity / image. What this does is create a path (on the fly) of the non transparent object inside of a image. The end result is we can work with .PSD's that have "no background" and actually trap the true image to whatever the surrounding layers colors are of the background. Its not perfect, but it does save a lot of time of rebuilding your photoshop images for the sole purpose of trapping.

Hey guys, ill chime in here since I work for Hybrid. Packz view will always be free and it does not expire. The version expires but the license will not. The reason we do this is we are very active in development of Packz and as a by product Packzview. So we want to make sure user stay as current with the software version as possible.

Esko / Re: ArtPro + v14.1
August 02, 2017, 09:28:30 PM
Hey Guys, I work for Hybrid Software. I used to be with Artwork Systems and then Esko. If anybody is looking for a mature PDF editor to replace Neo or Artpro then Packz is what you are looking for. As was previously mentioned, Hybrid is pretty much all former Artwork Systems employees that have jumped ship. If anybody is interested in seeing a demo of Packz drop me a line and I will set it up for you.

Current Nexus does a great job. But Like Joe mentioned, Esko is not going to let you activate that dongle without a large cost involved. With out paying you will not be able to upgrade Nexus to the newer version.

We are demo'ing this product right now. Its lightning fast (64 bit mac and pc). Its like a newer Artpro built around native PDF.

Artwork Systems / Re: Nexus to Automation Engine?
February 20, 2013, 09:23:28 PM
We use it, I work for a large packaging company with many locations. Most of our facilities were on Nexus. The transition was a little bumpy as far as the learning curve. But since then it has really paid for itself. We brought MIS into all of our facilities last year. Tying that together with the job management in Automation Engine has allowed us to automate a ton of stuff from simple to complex.

I guess the only thing I do miss about nexus is the simplicity of it. With all the bells and whistles I am expected to deliver a lot more in terms of automation.

Esko does sell used tables. Contact them for the pricelist of what they have in inventory.

Use the prepress module (If you have the PDF update). In there you can use the inks tab to remap colors to any separation.

Artwork Systems / Re: Nexus 9.5.8 available

Correct, its Artpro 10 that you are seeing.

Automation Engine is at 10.1, but is not available via download center.

Esko / Re: Anyone still using odystar
August 03, 2011, 11:06:24 PM
Odystar and Evo are actually very similar. That being said. Esko has a new workflow called Automation Engine 10 which combines the strengths of their 3 previous workflows (Nexus, Odystar and Backstage) all into one. Call esko, they offered us a free migration to AE10 because we had Odystar and Nexus. We did have to pay for training and installation but that was well worth it.

Simple, use only Normalized PDF. Artpro can import it and export it. Deskpack and do both as well.

Correct, in windows set up a folder mapping. Then in the pitstop module you can adjust the output to save the file to the mapped drive.

Kodak Systems / Re: Prinergy???

I realize that someone else made that post. I just wanted to clear up the facts with the name and such. And as far as posting in the wrong forum, I meant since this is the Kodak and not EskoArtwork forum.

You guys rock

Kodak Systems / Re: Prinergy???

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. Yes Esko is coming out with a system name "Suite 10" and yes it is in Alpha. This is a combination of all 3 prior workflows (Odystar, Nexus & Backstage) plus it will feature a ton of new functionality as well as the APPE. From what I have seen of it, it will be the closest competitor to Prinergy that there is.

If anybody wants more information about this, feel free to PM me. Don't want to post to much in the wrong forum. HOOAH!
