Hey that's New!
Thanks Joey!   :)

DigiCorn

I have a 2011 (I think) 21.5" iMac and I think it's on High Sierra. I thought we had a thread going on this, and I couldn't find it, but maybe it was on Reddit. Anyway, a month or so ago I found out you can install Windows 10 on it as a separate OS and it apparently runs pretty fantastic. Anyone have any experience doing this?
Great Scott!!

I was wondering why I keep clicking on cancel when I'm meaning to click on Don't Save in indy
I figured out they switched the order of the buttons!
Those bleepers!

Seems like that's all they do, update is their code word for hide.
And how senseless is your example? Really? Is that purely so 'doobie can say "we made X amount of changes in 2024?"

You can't preflight stupid.

That is called bootcamp. The downside is you have to create a new partition on your hard drive and you have to reboot to get to windows and then reboot again to get back to the Mac OS unless you just want to wipe Mac OS out and only use it for Windows. Drivers can be problematic in Bootcamp. The better option might be to use something like Parallels (NOT FREE) or VirtualBox (FREE) and you can run both Windows and Mac...and other OSs at the same time. (Parallels is the better product but Virtual Box does work) Also for either option you will need a Windows product key. Stacked Social is a good place for that. Right now you can get a Windows 11 Pro Product key for $17.97...well you could a few days ago. Sold out right now but you can still get Windows 11 Home for $11.97.

That is the kind of thing they do when the nephew of the main boss needs a special project to keep him from screwing up the real code.

One of my desktop computers at home is on it's last legs (16+ years) and I have a physical Windows 10 disc and serial number/key that I can deactivate online and reactivate for the iMac. It's just for my kids to be able to use for games and stuff. After the new year, I'm going to build a new desktop behemoth so I can put my DVD and BluRay burner back in, and get Plex going again. That one will be Windows 11.
Great Scott!!

I am in the process right now except mine won't be a behemoth. Looking for Black Friday deals for CPU (probably a 12th gen i7...(14th gen i9's are too crazy expensive and I am not trying to take over the world just yet)) and motherboard w/wifi and bluetooth, RAM, M2 SSD's etc...

Right now Amazon has:

Intel Core i7-12700K Gaming Desktop Processor with Integrated Graphics and 12 (8P+4E) Cores up to 5.0 GHz Unlocked LGA1700 600 Series Chipset 125W

for $187 which is almost too good to be true. Not sure I will find a better Black Friday deal if I wait though.

If I buy this I will miss out on a better deal.

If I don't buy this I will end up paying more on Black Friday and kicking my own ass for not buying it today.

I really should but I just know it will be available on Black Friday for $186.99! >:(

Even $225 at full price isn't too bad. The important thing for me is I need a motherboard with lots of RAM and a case that I can add 2 bays to. I bought a 1TB PNY SSD for a different computer 6 months ago and I got it for something like $35, so the big $$$ items are going to be the video card, RAM and motherboard.

I am not a big gamer. The on board graphics on the CPU works for me. 32 GB of RAM is more than enough too. I am trying to stay at or under $500 for the whole thing. (CPU, motherboard, Ram, and SSD. Re-using existing case, mouse and keyboard.)

I am really more of a retro console gamer, but I do like some PC stuff. There's a sync issue between video and audio and on rhythm base games like Guitar Hero, that sync is critical.
Great Scott!!

Stack Social now has the Windows 11 Pro$17.97 which is quite a steal. Only good for another 16+ hours.
