Looking for recommendations for an Envelope printer under 20k.
Our Xanté Impressia crapped out and we are looking at their En/Press.
Any input welcome.

Suggestions on other printers also welcome.

We have an Enpress Our last Xante was the Lumina so not familiar with the Impressia

The Lumina has a vertical stacking feeder, the Enpress has a Horizontal Feeder
I only run it when the Copy guy is on vacation, the feeder is annoying and your pretty much
baby sitting it, and you have to open flaps on certain size envelopes.
just fyi though I don't have the personality to run Copiers etc...
It annoys me when things don't work perfectly  ;D
and they never do!!
I would definitely look at it, but see it run with all the types of envelopes/scenarios you need.

I've been using an OKI printer, with white ink, works great on 98% of envelopes.
I use a horizontal feeder, once it's set, works like a champ. I've had issues with the belts on the feeder getting slick so the env won't feed straight. I take some blanket wash from the press room and wipe it on the belts to make them tacky and it helps a ton with the feeding.

I'm sorry, is this the Lumina or the Enpress you're describing?

We're looking for a new one too. But our budget is under $50,000. The bosses prefer a toner based... finding lots of inkjets. Any pluses or minuses to having an inkjet vs. toner?

We currently have an IntoPrint MP200. The newer model of this same printer (fuser based) is only $5500. We already have the feeder and catcher.

How do you like the IntoPrint MP200?

Well, it's currently down and it's slow, and we're being told it might take 6 months to get parts. The newer version is 4 times faster (6,000 an hour vs. 1,500), and is serviceable. We like toner vs inkjet because it doesn't smear or run, and it can get wet and be intact.

[edit] I should add that if you need the feeder and the catcher, it will cost you north of $5,500. That price is just for the printer itself. We currently have 2 MP200s and 2 feeders and 2 catchers, so we don't need those attachments. The old ones will work with the new one.

We just installed a Kirk Rudy FireJet. It is inkjet. Runs very fast, full bleeds possible. Haven't really run it hard yet but it seems to be a beast. No idea how much it cost.

The one big drawback with inkjet is that the ink smears when the envelope gets wet or damp.

We have an Xanté Impressia (old but still running).
We've had 4 Mach 5 (Memjet) presses over time.
And have 3 Mach 6 (Memjet) presses after the Mach 5s.

Now we have an iJet 1175 Pro (HP-1000), and it blows away the Memjets. I've only run around 10,000 on it so far. As far as the ink-smearing issue, it is not an issue. I just printed out an envelope and then immediately ran it underwater. No smearing. Just the envelope is soaked, but the image is still good. Text included. They say it will run upto 10,000 env/hour. We have yet to test that theory. But it is quite fast. Game changer.

I've run the Xante Impressia before at my old job. Not too impressed. Pretty sure we're just going to get another IntoPrint because the cost os right, our guys know how to run it, we have the peripherals and the front end and it's going to be a huge step up from the old IntoPrint.

I have not been either. But it's our only laser env "press". And it's paid for. So we print on the inkjets for a majority of our work. Thus it's not that bad, especially since I don't have to run it.

I see a few inkjet models mentioned but looking for toner based.
Sounds like the En/Press is most popular.
Thank you all for the input!
