I'm on the wife's insurance, which is better than the insurance they have here. If I were to have to provide my own coverage, the three options we have would basically all be covered by the company (one of the plan options would cost me about $15-20 a month). By not accepting the insurance, they cut me an extra check for $175 each month (the insurance would cost them about $400). Also, it comes out of my wife's salary pre-tax. If she didn't have to pay extra for my insurance, she'd have to pay more in taxes. We actually make more money by not being covered under the company's plan; it would cost us extra (more than $2400 a year) for me to accept the "free," insurance here.
