We use ESKO plug in for Illy to generate ours.
Because it feels good !

David

Thanks Zimmy, but I'm looking for an Indesign plugin, Illy won't do.
We're doing a variable piece that requires the bar codes be generated in ID along with placing a pic.

thanks anyway,
David

silly question but why can't you use the bar code font? will it not work? if variable dat just using the bar code font should work right? asking only because someday i might have something that needs it and hope it is the answer.

I have to have a physical barcode to place in several places. We will be doing an ID page and also placing it on a label for shipping, for proof id and a few other options.

I've also found the Teacup one already and it looks like a good candidate, thanks.

as an aside, do any of you know what a "Class A" barcode is?

I currently use Barcode Pro, and none of the styles of barcodes are called Class A.

We use Symart Pro5.0  to check our codes.
Symart also can generate codes.......it has a Code A.....don't see a Class A.

here's the specs we were given to generate the barcodes:

Class: A
Font Size: .1389 in.
Barcode Height: 100%
Ink Spread: -.0021

Does any of this make sense to you guys?
I didn't know that fonts were measured in inches,
and the size is 100% of what?

man, they don't make it easy I tell you.

thanks for all your help,
David

I generate barcodes, I have NEVER heard of these specs. Are they talking maybe the Alpha Numeric Prefix A-D that can be assigned to certain formats?

Dave... I have a barcode producer that... well here is what the software "says" it will do...

Barcode Producer's PDF Stamper marks PDF files with fixed, sequential, or customized barcodes. Using a drag-and-drop interface, you can position the barcode over PDF documents, select the barcodes to be inserted, then save the document. PDF Stamper will build and add the barcodes over your document. The resulting pages can then be printed and individually scanned with a barcode reader for tracking purposes.

Could this work for you?

yeah, the specs actually kinda scared me, they make no sense, and of course, the client is a big help...(not).

This is actually a customizable Barcode that would work in unison with the feature listed above.
