That green note still shows up when doing multiple selection clicks with Output Preview open.

and on mine, when using the selection tool, it doesn't show you what you've actually selected until you select another object, or shift-click somewhere else.

The green note isn't a Pitstop bug. It is an Adobe feature. Open the green sticky note and you will see it adds the density values into the note where you clicked. Adobe thinks this is a great feature and it isn't going away any time soon in this lifetime.

On the selection tool issue I see that too. I never saw it before the last update to DC. To see the selection I just click the object again and then the selection shows. Or click on the Pitstop Inspector window and it shows up then as well.

yeap I have that selection tool issue as well, its a wee bit frustrating when trying to select a few things one at a time and you cant tell if you have all the individual things selected.

and yes the sticky note thing still drives me nuts...
...and still no way to disable it?

Just click on the Inspector window and it should then be visible.

Sure. Close output preview. (That is what an Adobe rep told me. He said there was no reason what-so-ever that a user needs to keep output preview open anyway)

We are getting so far behind now, I sometimes think I'm on the wrong forum. :woeisme:

@DigiCorn Can you contact Enfocus support about the selection issue, I want them to check it out, better you do it so it's logged in the database so you get direct feedback. I'm out of office for some time.

yup I do that, but strangely enough I use output preview a lot, so its close/open/close/open/forget to close=damn sticky note/close/open
why would the adobe rep think we dont use it anymore?

Fixed the sequence of events for you. You left out a few things.

Because they are a  bunch of arrogant assholes that think they know better than us how we should be working.

@abc I would love too. Unfortunately, I am no longer in a position where I am allowed to fix things, and they frown on it when I try. In many instances, I will alter something to my liking, and then undo it before next shift so there's no questions. The guy in charge here doesn't even allow me to post about work stuff here, so we better hope he never sees this. I guess I was just hoping something would be addressed in an update.

Hi Digicorn and others,

I am a QA person from Enfocus and trying to reproduce the problem you seem to be having with the selection function.
I however cannot seem to reproduce the problem.
Can anybody give some more information about the problem?

Are you using shift click or shift drag to select multiple objects in the document?
Is it the first time only (when freshly opening acrobat and select tool) or do you have it all the time?

Any information would be welcome.
Thanks

It happens a lot but not every time. It does happen more than it doesn't happen. We only see it using Acrobat DC. Users that are still using Acrobat XI do not see the problem. Also it is on a Mac running OS X 10.11.6. Not sure if it is affected in other versions of OS X running DC.

It happens when just doing a single click. If you click it a second time or click anywhere on the inspector window it will then show the selection. Even when you can't see the selection the object is selected as it shows what object is selected in inspector and if you go ahead and do a correction without being able to see the selection the correction does work.

It doesn't do it using click-n-drag and I can't say for sure about shift+click because I always have output preview open and you can't shift+click for multiple selections if you have output preview open.

While we are on the subject I do have the issue with a really long delay making the first selection after opening Acrobat/Pitstop for the first time. That is a real drag too.

And while I am at it...on Acrobat DC I have my most used Pitstop tools on the top toolbar so they are always accessible. Most times when I first start Acrobat they are not showing on the toolbar. To get them back I have to right click the toolbar, click 'Customize Quick Tools...', add a separator, delete the separator and click Save. Once saved the Pitstop tools are showing again. It doesn't happen every time I start Acrobat but it happens more than it doesn't happen.

Acrobat has been a total shit ass experience for me for about 2 years now with frequent crashes, display issues and generally clumsy pitstop performance. I have given up and just live with it all. I am having no other issues with any other software on my Mac, even Quark is more stable, and I need to be a heavy user of output preview, for the type of work we do.

The work gets done, eventually, but I really hate this program now. I wish Enfocus could come up with a decent PDF program that is stable. But I am sure Adobe has this locked down with patents, ect. so there is no other game in town.

So yeah, I live with it like a nagging bithching wife.

Ditto exactly what Joe said, including the tool bar. If I launch a PitStop tool, but I do it this way: I close the file and reopen the file, and my toolbar comes back, but only if I launch PitStop Process from the tools menu here (see screenshot).

Not sure if this helps but you can put custom tool bars to the side
I have one to the side for tools I don't really use that often
also I have ABC's over there.
when you edit your custom tool bar you save, and I think import, not sure it might just be save.

I might have exported and then imported

Joe

I hate having to go back and forth to the toolbar on the side.. When I need it...it is closed. When I don't need it...it is open and in the way. I like the toolbar across the top because it is always available and never in the way. Well it is always available when DC isn't hiding it at startup. First thing I do when I start Acrobat DC now is to go and find it if it has hidden it yet again. I wish I could do away with the toolbar on the side completely. I hate that thing.

Here is how I like it.
