as if anyone cares...
... sorry Joe, I know you're only doing your civic duty. :undecided:
I still hav 2 custy's using Quark, if you buy 9 you get 10 too.
I'm thinking about it.
With the issue we just had this morning we might as well go back to quark and our old Apogee RIP circa 1995.
Post to come.
It goes without saying that I think we'll see an increase in the q, as some people rebel against the cloud. What would Star Wars have been like with no rebels and it was the Empire fighting the Empire?

publisher's not cloud, right?

We're considering it too since we could get a copy of both 9 & 10 for $349. After June 30 the price jumps to $849. And there are still people running Quark hard as that is to believe. Some of them actually claim to like it.
Some people also think the government has their best interests in mind.

Surely you are not suggesting that politicians are only looking out for their best interests and not ours? :sarcasm:
I say don't buy it no matter how cheap. You don't want to validate anyone's choice to buy it. Enough printers don't buy the upgrade and there won't be anyone to take that crap anymore.
We specialize in crap evidently.

They're left-handed... that means they are the devil's children, and/or aliens. Anyone else see the original
V back in the '80s?

You certainly don't have the market cornered on that. With the amount of shit I'm surrounded with you'd think I work in a septic tank.

I'm left handed...
run for your lives!

Loved that show. Good ol Marc Singer.
They tried to bring it back last year but it sucked.

Sounds like my new mantra. Or another band name that will never formulate.

Nobody fucks with the Beastmaster... the Beastmaster does the fucking.
This is hilarious. So instead of trying to keep current Quark users by allowing older version to update, they decide it's better to alienate them with some arbitrary "cut-off" instead? Just when long-time Adobe customers are all but willing to jump back into the Pit of Despairâ„¢ that is The Big Q also? Morons.
They probably see this as an opportunity to push people off of the fence onto their side of the pasture. Doubtful if it will work though. We've made the decision to upgrade to neither Quark or Creative Cloud. Quark forever and Creative Cloud for at least a year. Maybe longer if we aren't having problems with CS6 by then. Very possibly we may just keep updated with Acrobat/Pitstop since you can still actually buy non-cloud versions of Acrobat.
i just keep finding great new ways to make money using indesign, like variable data step and repeat for mailing labels and all kinds of other shit too. hard to expect everything for free, although nowadays, thats the norn. they think we prepressers are a commodity too, then one key person leaves, nothing gets done, and all you will hear is "whaah happened?" when the work doesnt get done. the prepresser that left probably quit to get a union job as a janitor to make enough money to pay the bills. :drunk3: :drunk3:
oh, a bit off :drunk3: topic, but imo, Quark still sucks :drunk3:

They never appreciate you or know how much work you did until you're gone.
I know that all too well.
Too bad it seems he has forgot already.
You're always replaceable until the boss actually tries to do it.
everyone's replaceable. I know this from experience. Worst situation is when they don't replace the person, just push their work onto someone else. Like we do here. Or, just pretend like nobody needs to do that job anymore.
Shop maintenance guy/paper gofer dude had to leave because he has ALS, now we sit here in the dark because the light bulbs all burned out. Wish I knew where the ladder and light bulbs are....
yeah, dont get me wrong.... i know everyone is not irreplaceable, but many of us are undercompensated and taken for granted. :drunk3:
:goodpost:
For MF'n truth. Even with me failing upwards deep in the back of the boss's mind the wheels are turning about how he needs to get $3 more an hour out of me.

So....
Is B4Print a support group, or a place to come bitch about our jobs and talk about beer? (well, basically, that makes B4Print sound like a bar)
Hmmm.... I'm sure the first B4Print bar would be in Illinois, but who wants to franchise the second one?
it's already at my house...
patio at 5, be there
it wouldn't be in Illinois, too expensive. Indiana or Wisconsin.
My backyard and home is always open to any B4 member with social access.
Just watch out for bears.
me too, but not bears, possums. For real, there was one on my fronch porch the other day. Big fella.
We get possums up on the front porch. Skunks and squirrels too. Sometimes a wayward raccoon.
And rats. They walk along the telephone line in our backyard all night.
Bears are the only real issue but I have all sorts of animals around. That's what happens when you have a 36,000 acre state park in your backyard.
