Just updated Acrobat to the latest and suddenly Pitstop is not working right.

When I use the selection tool, it selects but does not SHOW the item is selected. Not good.

We're using Pitstop 13 which I know is pretty old. We could not survive without Pitstop at this place with the type of work we do.

Is an upgrade imminent? 

Okay, this one is hard to explain...

We received a calendar layout in Indesign that is like spreads that are positioned vertically. You look at the pages pallet and they are horizontal. It is readers spreads and if you export them as pages you get single pages which is what we need for impo. For example, you will see January with the calendar below etc. The view has not been rotated.

Anyone had any bad experiences with Google fonts?

We seemed to have run into one with a pdf. Wondering if we should tell our client to avoid using them.

Hard to explain this... but this afternoon I was editing images in photoshop from Acrobat and the picture opened in a bright green box! The picutre is there, you can see it when you zoom in and out, but its like this very bright green and makes it impossible to work with.

I tried the cmd option PR reset but its still happening. Help! Any insights?

Anyone one ever used "Agfa Eclipse" plates? We're doing a test run this week with them.

Has anyone ever ran into bad CMYK ink? I've been noticing the jobs around here are too light. The vast majority of jobs here are not required to match our epson proofer but now and then it comes up. One pressmen matches them pretty good, the other one claims they are out to lunch.

With the addition of a spectrometer and Fiery XF, I have been able to optimize the delta e to about 1.2. We've recieved proofs from outside sources and they look like 99 percent of what we make.

Could ink actually be bad, which would throw the whole thing off obviously. Is there any way of testing the strength of it not only in the solids but in tints as well?

We are trying to figure out how to insert 1 white page after every 7 pages of a large pdf printing on blue paper. The content changes every 7 pages and it's being done this way for ease in collating.

Obviously we have to use 2 different trays.

Does anyone know how this could be done in CWS?

Oh God, this was so long ago that I had dealt with this issue. I am suddenly forced to work on another Mac today but I notice that I do not have the custom marks available. We prefer the regular bullets not the Indesign defaults and I don't have that .mrk file here......

I think it was Matt Beals who had sent me a file that I loaded into Indesign years back to make them available. (RIP Matt).

Does anyone have this? It's the bullet that looks like the old Quark ones did, a circle with a horizontal and vertical line in the middle.

So every time I have to restart, the progress bar under the apple logo freezes at about 70 percent.

Lately i have only been able to boot in safe mode.

If i reset SMC it starts up fine for one or two times then goes back to the same problem.

I am dealing with apple support on this issue and will be talking to them tomorrow. They seemed to be thinking an OS reinstall might be necessary.

Thing is, I need to use time machine to restore the multitude of apps on this work horse computer and would not that just reinstall the old problems.

I don't need this shit happening so close to christmas, but it is a covid christmas I know.

This one is driving me crazy.

I am running Fiery XF on my Mac to drive our epson.

We just got a new Konica printer and I want to hook up the Mac to CWS but it will not install and gives the message on installation about removing XF. I need both programs operational not just one.

Anyone else have this issue?

The last few weeks we have had network speeds going from normal to almost no response.

Working off the network on a few jobs we had type disappear in a pdf going to a Konica printer and also an image dropping off when the network was crawling.

The IT guy said the network speed would not affect this happening but I think it could.

Any ideas appreciated.

Has anyone had any experience with a Konica 1085 digital printer?

We have one we might buy (with a lot of clicks on it) and I'm wondering if it's any good.

I need to move one line of text in a large pdf, it's a date line ie. "March 2020" that has to go up about 1/8 inch to make sure it does not appear in a window envelope when inserted.

I've been looking through pitstop action lists, etc. to no avail.

Any advice appreciated!

Has anyone ever heard of a densitometer that's used for measuring varnish? It might be called a Gloss densitometer.

I remember seeing something about this recently.

We need to move just one number about 1/8 inch up in the same position in a very large 30000 page pdf. It's a control code that appears on each page in the same position, like 00001, 00002 etc.

I seem to remember something about "coordinates" in pitstop. Anyone had a similar problem?

Dumb question:

Could there be any way in pitstop to edit one image, in say a 150 page pdf  and update on every page. (it's repeating).

It's a merged variable letter done in Word and the signature has a background tint making it look like a gray box behind it. I doubt it cause it's not a link.

OR, is there anyway to do it in Word before making the pdf?

Has anyone ever used the option in fiery XF to change the paper color? I mean it prints a colored box around the artwork to simulate the paper color.

I remember seeing it when we first started using the software and the guy who installed it said don't use it. For the life of me I cannot find it anywhere now.

Okay, I am trying to look busy today and screwing around with this and that and came across something strange. (not too worried about not being busy, a load of work is coming next week).

Anyways, I had an .eps file on the server and was on the PC and accidentally right clicked and there was an option to convert to pdf. It worked. Soooo, I made up my own .eps file on the Mac with type of all different kinds of fonts and saved as an .eps.... then went back to the PC and did the same thing. It worked, the fonts were all ok as "embedded subsets".

Now I am trying to figure out how useful this would be in actual daily work but I must say, I was very surprised that this could be done.

Anyone ever had this situation:

I have to create a calculating form in Acrobat like: the quantity is a form box, and the value per unit is a currency number in a form box and there's a third form box that calculates the quantity x the value to a final value. (for example, quantity is 5, price per unit is 1.75, final cost is 8.75. This works ok except if the quantity is not entered and the price per unit is not entered, the 3rd box displays 0.00. I was hoping it would just remain blank, it looks weird.

I don't know javascript but I bet that's the way to do it. I will keep searching Acrobats prefs etc. and maybe I will find something.
