I'm wondering if someone can enlighten me as to how Indigo presses convert spot colors to CMYK, whether it uses a LUT or bases it on values within a file. We've got an Indigo 3500, not sure exactly what rip version we're using (5.3??).

We have a 5600 and a 20,000 and they both use LUTs, but at our other print shop we have a 5000 and it only uses the onboard RIP which doesn't have a LUT and they send everything 4/c. You could find out for sure by sending a file with a home made spot color (Special Spot Red) and if it uses a LUT it should error because it can't find that color.
