I know this has been asked before, I'll ask again. I have a nightmare restaurant menu, about 1000 dishes in this menu all done in Publisher. Is there a way to convert this chit somewhat over to Indesign? Stripping a pdf of the file and reformat is the only way I know.  

Can someone tell me how to edit this page? I'm attempting to adjust the folds on this 3 panel job and need to move rules, colored boxes out to line up with my blue guides for folds. But for the life of me I can't edit it. Its not a table or a linked graphic. Its vector, can be edited in illustrator and pitstop, in which it tells me I'm missing a step here in Indy. Its appears to be some sort of elements pasted into the document. The designer seemed to have linked some text boxes to this mess so I don't want to open a can of worms. I attempted to provide a link but errord out. Help would be appreciated with a beer. 

I have an 88pg Indy file that is 500mb. No graphics, no links of any kind, nothing embedded, just black text. This is a provided file from the client. Any idea why this single file is so huge?

Does anyone remember the password (actually its a set of numbers) for the Agfa Acento S? Its a prompt given from the two hidden buttons on the control panel----"Service".

Not sure where to place this question. Has anyone contemplated working remotely, perform general prepress duties offsite? Has anyone known anybody who has done this? I would think most of my duties can be done this way using a highspeed internet. Issues I see is accessing workflows like our resold old Apogee and the cheesy "ripit" and of course making plates. Any thoughts and solutions out there such as what kind of technical support would one need at both ends of the pipe? (not peace pipe)

My boss is currently in the process of updating out website and making it more interactive. She's having it created in such a way that clients can pick a template, illy, PS, quark, Indy etc., download it and design their job and submit back to us as a print ready pdf. What she would like to know: are the templates formatted in a particular way in order for them to be uploaded to our site in order to be downloaded by a client? I've posted a site as an example of what I'm referring to. I suggested to her that I should just download a few of the templates and check them out, but she does not want to do that for some reason, thinking I suppose that it is stealing.  Also, if it's the case that every conceivable size template created in every page design app, is there a site that offers all these for free or a fee? Thanks for any advice.

My Preps 5.3.3 went bonkers on me. Out of the blue it will not allow me to select a template I created. Refuses to allow me to even see it. And it got worse in a hurry. When I make a template, save then "File, New Job, PDF=PDF" to bring up the "File list",  and completing the file list, then print to create the PJTF, a message appears "Internal template name CFW 5.5x8.5 144 pager.tpl is a duplicate and will be ignored". Any template I attempt to make a PJTF gives me the same message. All templates are named differently. I've restarted the computer, got off the network, made new templates, looked for "Preps Preferences" to trash but can not locate. Preps is loaded on my G4, templates and such are on the network and have been for years. The one thing that could have started this is that at times I will modify an existing template for a new job and rename it. The issue started last week but I was able to shake it but no longer. HELP!!

This post is a continuation of a previous post  https://www.b4print.com/index.php?topic=6876.0 I wanted this post to stand out. My issues are close to being resolved as far as making and mapping the pjtf. My issue now is when I create the pjtf from the template it looses the template's attributes. One can view the results when viewing the pages in the template in Apogee.

In Preps when choosing the new pjtf I get a warning message that says: "The media size of the targeted device is smaller than the press sheet size of one or more signatures."

This leads me to believe it is a "device setup" issue which resides in Preps menu bar under setup. "Device configuration" is then chosen from the "Device setup" window. Can someone please send me their settings in this "Device configuration" window or a snapshot at least?

This software resides on a Mac G-5  OS 10.4.11

A year ago we downloaded pitstop, recently we switched to cloud and downloaded all CS6. I removed the Enfocus folder from Acrobat plug-in folder and placed it in the new version. Two weeks later Acrobat started to crash, I then removed pitstop. Acrobat crashed altogether. I reinstalled Acrobat CS6 in which it works fine until I place Enfocus back into the Acrobat's plug-in folder. Is there an easy button or do I now have to deal with another pain in the butt software company?   

I downloaded Cloud CS6 on the PC (Windows XP). The software worked for a week or so then started bugging out. I was told by adobe to toss old CS versions. Everything worked fine for a couple of weeks then Acrobat started crashing constantly. Now Acrobat will not open at all, just gives you a crash report. Maybe I'm missing something here, so before I hassle with Adobe does anyone know a fix I'm overlooking?

Several months ago the mac loaded with preps crashed, it also was a client for Apogee. Our workflow is Apogee 2.5 (old) and purchased from a printer who was going out to business. We had the license transferred. This Apogee workflow was set up to use PJTF templates created from preps. I had to reload preps on the rebuilt mac, however in the device widow there is no option to choose PJTF when creating the template in preps. Used to able to print to PJTF in which one would choose that imposition in Apogee for a particular job. I can make prep templates all day but to not have the ability to create a PJTF file from that template. I've been able to choose existing PJTF files that were created before the crash. Any new PJTF templates I create I can not choose them.

Anyone got a clue? We do not have a contract with Agfa, so, does anyone know of a contractor who knows Apogee who can configure our flow if need be, someone in or near the DC area? All our contacts state they'd have to fly someone from across the US. Thanks all   

We have a client who says Quark 8 does not allow you to save down to 7. I think otherwise, am I wrong?

We purchased a new Mac Pro, I loaded CS5.5 software. I then tried to load PitStop 7, and then upgrade if need be. Apparently you can not load 7 on these Mac Pros because all I got was an empty window when I chose "install". Any knowledge out there I should know before haggling with Enfocus?

Here's the scoop--I bought a new Mac Pro to replace our old mirrored door G4. The G4 was originally loaded with Adobe Suite CS and overtime updated to CS2 through downloads. Quark 7 is also loaded on the G4. Now I need to move these over to the Intel mac. I've done this before but not from a old mac to a much newer one and not having to jump several software versions in one shot. I'm not even sure I can even load those old version on this new mac. Are they compatible? Where is the easy button doing this cause I dread this. Thanks all......

For years a used this site to convert pantone colors and the reverse, enter color percentages and it'll give you a close pantone color both coated and uncoated. Well, the site is now gone.

I'm having an issue with one of our macs. When sending an email and typing a message in the email text field, the text is a strange chinese looking mess.  If I cut and paste the mess into another app, it looks fine. And it does it with both Thunderbird and the standard email. Could it be a preference issue? The computer is a G$4  10.4.11

We need to upgrade to a Mac pro, so which one would you recommend? If it were up to me I'd get the mid range tower, I'm leary of the imacs, however it's not up to me. Which would you prefer that works smoothly with major publishing software. Our workflow is an old Apogee 2.something, so this new computer is only for standard prepress, not workflow. Thanks

Does anyone know if there is a MetaPlus Font available for the PC instead of the Mac? I don't think there is.

Can someone save an Indy 5 file down to a Indy 3 for me? I'd really appreciate it! 

The dryer unit on our Azura C85/C120 cleaning unit seems not to be working. The manual is no help, just says replace this or that, nothing about fuses etc. I do feel slight air blowing when the plate comes out but no heat at all. The plates are coming out damp. Is there an easy button?  :cheesy:
