How about AppleTV as the connection point - stream the info from a Mac to the TV - there must be one in a printshop....

also would work from an ipad or iphone or iwatch when it arrives

I could do a day - I am about 2.5 hours from Rochester and could drop the other riders off in Buffalo to shop. I have been to Rochester to let the youngest spawn drool over guitars in a specialty shop so count me in. Only weekend I cannot do is Saturday Feb 23. Road trip.

CTP - CTF / Re: deactivate plate punch
January 15, 2013, 08:23:57 AM
Out of left field  idea. How about buying custom plates that are larger and use the default punch, then trim off the edge that is punched? You would have to set the image back but cutting a plate is not that tough.

I guess it dependsĀ® on how many you are going to make - perhaps another machine hanging of the rip may make sense.

Any chance of an external you can install the OS onto - bypassing the HD? How about a backup - get the data to an external also so the internal HD is not necessary.

Windows / Re: Server 'blow-out'
January 03, 2013, 09:32:09 AM
Good short term solution is to take off the side cover(s) and put a small fan blowing across the drives and boards (have a vac running near the off side to catch the stuff). You can probably use a fine brush to "knock" off the larger bunnies you find. I would not shut it down if I heard noises. Perhaps installing a temperature monitoring program would give you an indication of the state of the machine.

Your previous history when you cleaned it out should give you an indication - if it started up without the three turns and witchcraft suggestion it would indicate it is not near death. It is also a good time to plan to replace it and not "extend" the life. Penny wise and pound foolish comes to mind seeing that you only have the one machine.

Does the person you are trying to help have CTP? Is a dirty mirror an option to the problem? How about the plate - is it secured correctly versus loose on one side?

Macintosh / Re: Suitcase Activtion Error

Never seen the error. I would do the preferences  first and then reapply the last update hopefully you have it.

I looked and have aV11 and V14 update but no V12.

here is dropbox to the V14 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/68702104/SuitcaseFusion3-M-1406-EN.zip

Quote from: Joe on September 27, 2012, 09:06:09 AMYeah, there is a special little 200 MB partition on OS X 10.7 and 10.8 Macs that is a bear to remove. I haven't tried much other than the Mac and Windows but neither one of those will remove that partition. I'll be trying again with Tech Tools soon as I need to clear out my SSD to use elsewhere.
That hidden slice is a hidden Volume I found out. I am now working at 10.6 thank  you very much and things are peppy to say the least. Not sure I want OS 6 or MLion.

Digital Printing / Re: iGen - Thoughts?

I think you also have to think about an off line coating machine to "seal" the surface. It could be a 1/c press with varnish or off line AQ or UV. HP looked great but BC for example needed to be coated to prevent smearing unless they have fix that. My experience is about 4 years old with respect to HP5000 version.

As another idea - I tried out for a job that used a Ricoh copier running the large sheet and it duplexed also. They had the UV off line - was real estate slime cards.

Quote from: Joe on September 26, 2012, 10:20:48 PMNo more Classic mode or Appletalk after 10.5.x and no more PPC apps after 10.6.x and no more low end Intel Mac after 10.7.x.
For anyone trying to take an old Intel backwards, I had to replace the HD (tried formatting) and only then would the machine accept the 10.5 and 10.6 Retail DVD. 10.7 is cut into the HD somehow and no amount of formatting would remove it.
