Quote from: born2print on June 10, 2024, 09:07:45 AMI remember NEO and I wanted it bad. I was told no.  :))
Yeah we were told the same. They just priced themselves out of customers for the price they were asking.

General Prepress / Re: Proof form
June 07, 2024, 03:30:58 PM
Can't show you what we used as I am not there anymore but it was a rubber stamp with the large word PROOF on it and 2 blank lines. One for date and one for their initials. Very simple. And then we quit doing proofs.

Quote from: SpicyVindaloo on June 07, 2024, 03:22:17 PMI wish Enfocus would just incorporate Pitstop into their own PDF reader. Adobe updates blow.
They did at one point. It was called NEO and was very expensive. I don't know it it is around anymore.

There is never an end to the upgrade cycle in prepress.

Quote from: born2print on June 07, 2024, 12:13:45 PMOk, I ran into a hurdle then made progress and had success.

Mac mini M2
Prinergy 10.0
Took Acro from 22 to 24 and the boss is trying to purchase PitStop 24 so it is still 22.

All was well including PitStop tools EXCEPT no Kodak tools.
The fix for now is to Cmnd I on Acro and select Open With Rosetta.
Then in Acro go to View / Disable New Acro (if it isn't done already).
Now I have Kodak tools too. So on that Mac, I am running 24 except when Kodak is concerned it is using older code and that seems to be fine.
Word from Kodak is that this will be fixed in Prinergy 11.
By then you will be 3 versions behind on Mac OX and Acrobat 27 will be out. ;D

The IDX service I mentioned above was free for one year because of United Healthcare getting hacked.

Just imagine trying to open up an overly complex PDF made today by some Illustrator guru that loves vector everything on an old G3. Go ahead. Let me know how it goes.

Credit Wise keeps notifying me my GMAIL account password was exposed on the dark web. That happened about 8 years ago and my password has been changed several times since. I emailed them and told them they should provide what the password is that has been exposed and they replied they can't tell what the password is. Well how do you know a password has been exposed? That is useless. I have another service, IDX, that I can enter just a password and it will check if that particular password has been exposed on the dark web. Much better. When I enter my Google password into the password checker it tells me that password was not exposed on the dark web.

Quote from: RMPrepress on June 07, 2024, 07:26:57 AMFunny, I was recently going through old software boxes and came across several Pitstop 7 and Pitstop 8 DVD cases.
Not sure why we have them and i still could not bring myself to throw them out. ::)
Because you never know when those G3/G4's will make a comeback!  :rotf:

Quote from: born2print on June 06, 2024, 01:26:41 PMWhelp, on a test Mac, updated Acro to 24 then found out we "are not entitled" to PitStop 24.
So I guess my testing is with 24/22 until someone forks over $ome dough.

PS:  I have no interest in 23, in fact it's not in the dashboard, there were too many emails about bugs and hot fixes.
I take it you are not on the Enfocus Maintenance plan that you renew yearly?

Technical / Re: WordPress, Joomla, or Custom Code?
June 06, 2024, 01:19:57 PM
My experience with these type of web builders is that is pretty easy to make the website but a bitch to modify or move it somewhere else. Maybe this one is different but I'm not likely to find out on my own.

Ughhhh...it isn't software you download and install but an out of the box website solution. Hard pass.
