Happy New Year!!
2018 was tough! Here's to a great 2019!
Happy New Year to everybody. I sure won't be sorry to see this year go.
Happy New Years to everyone. Hear's to making 2019 better than 2018. :ondeck:
Happy New Year!!!
I hope everyone has a great new year!!
:drunk3: :drunk3: :drunk3:
I'm literally the only employee here today. I must have missed a memo.
Happy New Year!
We are both here today, with nothing to do. Probably going to have to hear stories about grandkids all day long :shoots_self:
I have work. I'm going to finish what I have here and then go to the Blind Pig and gets some tacos and beers.
Happy New Year buddies! :hello:
Happy New Years everyone!
I'm outta here. Screw you guys, I'm going home.
Had to work yesterday. Came down with a cold.
Conclusion: Work is bad for your health.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year all ;) :drunk3:
Now that the holiday madness is over, we can get back to normal ...
abby-normal...
Everybody's here today, but there is zero work
No work here either, been doing some much needed cleaning!
So I cleaned my keyboards yesterday and one of them is not working
It's a wired magic keyboard
I cleaned with a cotton pad and alcohol
What did I do?
You did actual work, and forgot to drink the alcohol.
Liquid in the keyboard spells trouble.
Oh Boy, prolly should of used a q-tip instead of the cotton pad
I have one of those keyboards that came with it, no number keypad tho
Oh well, It's Mac6 I use Mac5
Put it in a big bag of rice?
...and happy frigin' new year :hello:

did you plug it back in?
:lmao:
Sometimes they will come back to life if you let them dry out, sometimes not.
Do any of the keys work or is it all dead?
:lmao: :lmao:
IT guru!
yeah, I learnt that at my IT skool, tecknickle stuff
:rotf:
Ok I will reboot it
I think it's all dead, I will try in a couple days
should I stick it in a bowl of rice
Had to use MAC 6 for something, I hate the small keyboards!!!
Quote from: Tracy on January 03, 2019, 01:47:56 PMI hate the small keyboards!!!
ME TOO! not that I'm a 10-key nut or anything but WWWHHYYYYYYYYY?!
So you would have to buy a real keyboard!
Well you won't buy anymore of the Apple wired keyboards because they don't make them anymore. There are 3rd party keyboards that look the same but they do not "feel" the same.
ohhh, they now come in Space Gray!
well, at least you can leave them plugged in all the time, unlike the stupid smart mouse that has to be belly up to charge it.
who came up with that idea?
:death:
:git off mah lawn:
$129 is insane for a keyboard.
$149 for the space gray is even worse!
An extra 20 dollars for a color that will happen on it's own after using it with dirty fingers.
:hangme:

Even the "flat" ones? I bought my own at the new shop, couldn't stand the shitty short-version that ships with the new Macs and I don't care about wireless. Worth every penny.
Closest you can get to the full wired Apple keyboard is this:
https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Matias/FK318S/
We ordered 2 at work. Took 63 days to get them. They look like the Apple keyboards but they do not feel like them.
Aw man! I shoulda taken better care of my keyboard, Still have the one on Mac 5
on Mac 6' keyboard most of the keys are working today, I will try again on Monday
Apparently they don't make them like they used to. The old mac keyboards could be run through a dishwasher and after a suitable dry off time would work just fine (as long as you made extra sure to keep water from the usb plug before hand).

Damn, I never realized the wired ones were phased out. There's a decent 3rd party Apple Certified shop near me, I might just clean out their stock and worst case sell 'em on Ebay for a tidy profit to put towards retirement!

Fixed
Keyboard is working again!
Had to push a bunch of keys and when the Caps lock light came on it started working!!!
Guess you gotta treat it like a lady
Nevermind moved it to Mac6 now no worky sheesh
I've got two of these keyboards that do the same thing. Plug them in and they might work for awhile but never for long. Put them on another Mac and they work for awhile but then quit. And these two didn't even have any spills. I've found when they start acting this way it is time to replace them. They are great keyboards...until they ain't.
On my Mac at work I use this now.
Logitech K750 Wireless Solar Keyboard for Mac (https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-K750-Wireless-Solar-Keyboard/dp/B005L38VRU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1546876879&sr=1-1&keywords=Logitech+Wireless+Solar+Keyboard+K750+for+Mac+-+Silver)
It has a good feel to it when typing. It's nice that there is no wire but you don't have to worry about keeping it charged since it is solar. The thing can actually charge during the day even if you have the lights turned off.
The only thing I don't like about it is there is no caps light on the keyboard. So if you happen to turn on caps accidentally and don't realize it you MIGHT TYPE IN ALL CAPS UNTIL YOU NOTICE IT.
Hey that's a good price! yeah I think the keyboard is dead
I like that it charges with solar power, I hate wireless keyboards usually!
Another thing that can get knocked off the desk with no tether to help you find it.
Quote from: Possum on January 07, 2019, 01:27:14 PMAnother thing that can get knocked off the desk with no tether to help you find it.
Well it is a keyboard. It isn't that hard to find. :rotf:
I have a 3 under my couch my landlord gave me when mine shit the bed. Like OLD SCHOOL wired Mac keyboards that have turned yellow.
The older white ones? I never cared for those. I really like(d) the aluminum ones though.
I have one of the white ones at home, and they're okay. They get dirty quickly. I have the aluminum one at work, but it fails on certain chars due to extra finger strength or lack of finger strength. The pressure applied to the keys has to be just right. That's my exp. with this particular style of keyboard. I am getting the bluetooth version at home from a friend sometime this week.
We have some of the K750 by Logitech around the shop, and the people like them (or at least don't complain). On my desk I have an aluminum one, but not a big fan of the touch of the keys. But it gets the job done. At home I have an older Logitech rechargeable that lights up when your hand gets close, and I really like that one. Still miss the mechanical keys of the olden days.
I love how I click on a Happy New Year thread and find a discussion about keyboards... I see nothing has changed in B4Print land... keep up the good work.
oh,
and Happy New Year to all you fine folks. :ninja:
How can you have a happy new year when you have keyboard woes?
Quote from: Joe on January 07, 2019, 02:12:01 PMThe older white ones? I never cared for those. I really like(d) the aluminum ones though.
Yes exactly. And they work fine, I can't bring myself to throw them away,

And oddly enough, I saw a thing on one of my deal sites for a Mechanical Keyboard Tester (https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=109). I guess you can try out different mechanical switches before buying a fancy keyboard. Who knew? Thanks Internet!!
On a blog I read they just had a story about keyboards. And here's the link (https://co-op.theinventory.com/the-five-best-work-keyboards-according-to-our-readers-1831614769?ks=streamshare). When I was doing quite a bit of typing most of the day, I used to have a keyboard like the Microsoft Sculpt, and I loved it, after I got used to it.
Happy New year!!
ok im finally back to work today (Most businesses close for a couple of weeks over out summer break). not that we are doing much cos there is only three of us, so we painted the floor! exciting, but it looks good.
Now I've had lunch and feel like I need a little nap, but second coat to do now.
Welcome back! Now get back to work!
