It's amazing how they can quote those prices and seriously think you're getting a break since you don't have to pay a service contract for it.

I'm sure it won't be cheap. Just like the JTP rentals I enquired about.

Thanks Joe.
We're running Prinergy 8.02. I saw those release notes, but also know they tend to test in their own little bubble world.
I need to do a few clean installs and was wondering if it was time to update all the macs to something over 10.10.5.

What problems come up with 10.12?

Kodak Systems / OSX version

Is there a recommended Mac OS for use with Prinergy? We're not using that many apps outside of Adobe stuff and Suitcase for fonts. Right now we're running 10.10.5 Yosemite.

Thanks!

Another vote here. Thanks Joe

We've had that happen in the past when the new PDF from InDesign had everything tagged with an ICC profile and the RIP wasn't set up to convert it properly.

We use a lower line screen and curves to adjust for offset stocks.

Quote from: Farabomb on June 12, 2017, 10:41:23 AMGood luck, I'm in the same boat but so far I've been doing a better job of supporting my install of EVO through google and help here than Kodak did.

I do wish I can find that piece of paper where I wrote down the admin password for KPS though.  >:(

KPS Admin password is usually : "prooferAdmin"

Joe,
We were told by the trainer to have "Set CMYK Colors to Knockout" unchecked otherwise a lot of transparencies wouldn't come out right. Same with the "Set Spot Colors to ..." setting.
I guess they had that wrong?

Here is where it's at in the refine and output process plans.
When we had the output proofs using Vector as the method, it could take 20-30 minutes to go through the color convert. If we chose raster, it might take 2-3 minutes. I didn't notice any difference in the two methods after running 30-40 pages each way.

We recently installed Prinergy Connect 8.0 and have been running along pretty well. Until a job came up that printed alright but the epson proof we output was off. After doing some testing, we got the proof to output correctly by enabling Overprint Handling in the Refine and Output process plans.
We enabled it in our process plans and it really slows everything up now and seems to cause errors due to the heavy CPU usage it takes.

I opened a call with Kodak on getting some guidelines on when or if Overprint Handling should be enabled. Their answer was not helpful at all. "It really depends on your workflow" Then they copy and pasted the help section on Overprint Handling. Ugh

Anyone have any experience with this and have it enabled in their normal process plans? Anyone mind sharing screenshots of their Refine process plans? I think Prinergy 8 added a lot more settings than I remember being in 6/7.

Thanks for all the replies. I've done some more tests and can't see any issues. Fingers crossed.
BTW - From what I remember, I think the Archiving option was 15k.

I tried it with a test job and it seemed to go alright. I tried to open a pdf from Workshop after the files were deleted and it clicked a few times and stopped cause it couldn't find the files. When I copied the folder back. everything seems to work as normal. Opening PDF's, creating VPS's, outputting to proofs, etc.

I think the trainer briefly mentioned this as a "poor man's archiving". Just not sure of any long term problems that might pop up.

The place I worked previously had the Archiving feature and it worked great. Just seems like an awful lot of $$$ to pay for a script.

Kodak Systems / Archiving Prinergy Jobs
May 27, 2017, 11:28:44 AM
Since we didn't purchase the Archiving option for Prinergy I'm trying to come up with an alternative way to "Archive" jobs.My thought was to copy the whole job folder to external hard drives and then delete them off the server. That way the history stays intact and if we need the job we can just copy the folder back onto the Prinergy server.

Anyone know of any downsides to doing this? Anyone have an alternative solution? We need to keep all files in the User Defined folders which can get over 100+ GB.
