Maybe, we have a stacker after the (not) processor and we don't use it as intended, we pull plates off in real time, then slip-sheet them with taped corners in thick corrugated folders and deliver them to the pressroom.
I call it "spoon feeding".

We do the cardboard folder thing too.
We carry them downstairs a few jobs at a time with a life changing device such as this that is intended to carry plywood and sheetrock and such.
Plates await press, depending on the area, laying flat or shelved vertical (protected by the corrugated folders).
Ever since processless, and with all our zero defect clients, we do not store/reuse plates. We remake them if the occasion arises.

In my last shop, where we ran Heidelberg, we had a room full of plate hanger storage racks on which we hung the plates.

And in my current shop, we have some plate shelving that we made to hold about 20 jobs. And then we use light-blocking fabric to cover the front. We label the plates and place the ticket on top of the plates on each shelf. And we have two of them, one for each press.

Never used/heard of a plate cart before. Everyplace I've been we took large sheets of cardboard and folded them in half and taped. Then we labeled them A, B, C, etc. and marked it on the job ticket as such. We just stacked them in the press room, and when the ticket came up, the pressman went and grabbed the folder.

I've suggested that a few times - guess we're going to keep shuffling them between carts.
Oh, and now the pressroom is complaining about scratches & "poor" imaging. Shocking.

We had a metal shop make some for us as well. Our maintenance team made a mock up out of wood and conduit for testing.

Ok. I feel like we've all had enough.

If you break out in hives, I wonder if it says anything interesting about you?
