Crack free digital stock

You can minimize the cracking on any stock by scoring with the grain instead of cross grain, so maybe look into getting or cutting your stock with the grain of the score.

I don't know what was different about the way the Konica laid ink but it didn't crack on offset stock. It would if print on the Xerox though. Never understood that.

Might be. I see heatset jobs crack a lot worse than say, sheetfed. The oven makes the ink shiny and brittle.
