I found all my notes from my previous install (Thanks Joe)

I'm going to back up everything maybe next week and do Time Machine backup differently
than Im doing now before I start, going to take it real slow.
I will use Time Machine to reinstall my printers etc..

so My first question is, do we create a bootable disk still or is there a different way now?

I have put off installing Pitstop 2024
and when I go to install, it says the acrobat version is not supported.
But I don't see an update for it.
I am on Monterrey, I'm wondering if I have to do an OS update
I'm going to check a different way for an acro update now

Not sure what they did with the clone tool
but when I go to clone something it grabs the entire image
I see there is a clone pallet, they totally ruined the clone stamp
and I need it!!

You know those super huge files?
One day the copy guy was having a problem with a file
and I resorted to making a .jpg compressed pdf
This makes a considerably smaller pdf and it worked.
I would never edit a .jpg pdf, and I name it 123456_jpg.pdf
I did a test and don't see any difference in the prints.
Is there something I don't know that would cause a problem?
would there ever be a color change?
I have been doing Zip compressed so many years now.
This is helpful on large files that need to be converted to cmyk in the pdf process also,
device cmyk makes a huge file of big files.
I have the image quality to maximum on my setting

I'm starting to get upset over the Bad data files they allow to come in
I feel like the customer needs to send good files or at least
files that don't need extensive fixing.
just wondering what others do, as I really don't want the intensity of this type of work.

today I had one that had paragraph returns, I fixed it but then they had another file
same company, for badges, the template that was created for the badges
has this big ol fat type for the Names and titles etc.. but the Title and company names are really long.
I have a feeling they are going to have me split the Titles/Names up.
this is so tedious, and it gives me a headache.

If others are doing this, I will suck it up, but I have a feeling most people
kick this sort of thing back.

So just starting to use QR code in InDesign
did a business card QR code it has all of the persons info
First name, Last name, Address, Phone, Email and URL
I think the address was even City, St Zip 

I can't see a way of copying and pasting all the info,
when you open the QR code window you can paste once 
it doesn't let you select text from the document
you have to close the window to go get more text.
I avoid typesetting, I will set up styles or even data merge BCs if I have to.
Is there any way around this?

The text in boxes like this does not export to pdf
the only fix is replacing with a real text box
I would like to fix it without replacing I have quite a few of them.

I have an Action that is not working, It seems I'm doing everything right
I'm wanting to move items .3 to the right on the odd pages and .3 to the left on the evens
I was trying to make separate actions for just to make it simple.
it's not doing anything. 
It's a small folio that is in the drill, a lot of pages.

actually not urgent now If I move those folios they will go into their text
this is now a customer problem but if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, please!

Holy Cow! just checking this out now, there is so much you can create with effects
and images, type effects etc.. you can actually type in what you want in an image.
we typed in rainbow cats with a dolphin swimming in a pool
and it popped up!!

I think this is Adobe's Canva
but I'm assuming it's much better

I am going to attempt writing a script, I have edited a script before but never created one
I have the code, from Indesign secrets, "Set Character Style to the Default none", I have a BC that always
defaults on the character style when I open the document and paste the text I'm going to modify.

and you have to save it as below, so do I have a text editor that will save like this?
UXP Scripts should be written in JavaScript, and the file should be saved like this
<filename>.idjs. Saving the script as .idjs enables the UXP engine in InDesign and executes the script as UXP script.( .jsx will execute as normal ExtendScript)

Does anyone know how to output a Word doc that has different page sizes (a step book) into a pdf?
I may ask for a pdf but knowing the customer it could be a problem.

Ugh! I updated my illustrator yesterday, no more Pantone, I do have the older version on my other Mac
but I think I'm going to need the Pantone license.

I think something happened to my content aware, it use to work perfectly
now I'm getting colors that I'm totally not expecting, like a dark green when using content aware
is like a gradient white. I think the settings are messed up.
does anyone know how to reset the content aware?
I may have to uninstall and reinstall my PS
Oh and it has not filled the entire selection box I created, like just filled it partially, it's really strange

I have a call to Epson and they are asking me about a head alignment, but if it's only on 
the type why would I need an alignment?
On my 9600 I think Fuji had to do something to settings to not have fattened type.

Holy cow! I did not know you could option drag a page in page thumbnails and duplicate the page
I have been doing too much work getting the page duplicated, It prints same thing on the back as the front.
I could not find anywhere to duplicate the pages
I have been doing these pretty large jobs monthly.
I just tried to option drag it and could not believe when it worked!  

The Studio Display Speakers would work for about 2 seconds and then nothing
I found info that said if you unplug the power cord for about 10 seconds and reconnect the power it will work.
An OS update might fix the issue in the future.
This solution did work

so the guy came to hook up my proofer to XMF 
I have never used this guy before, my previous guy is in France or the Netherlands now.

so he said he couldn't hook it up the way I had it, because the driver wasn't compatible to my version of XMF
so the Proofs are coming out with Fat type and the color is off a bit.
so there is no management on it.

any solutions that anyone knows of?

I'm wanting to convert a black gradient image that is in illustrator to CMYK
I'm ok converting it in photoshop also, don't think this gradient is going to print well in black
its a bunch of gradient shapes on top of each other, so I don't want to convert each gradient.
just the whole thing together

My Epson 9900 needs a new print head and instead of repairing it
we are considering getting into some Large Format Printing that we usually send out.

Since I have never done any Large Format, not sure what machine(s) to get
does anyone have any suggestions for us?
