I got the My Cloud Pro, It comes with 2-2TB WD Red NAS Drives
Is that ok?

curious what would you use the usb ports for?

Joe

I have a couple 4TB externals plugged into them for backups nightly.

Joe you backing up the backup?

Joe

Actually our NAS units are our file servers. They are backed up locally to external drives and to Amazon S3 Cloud. So you know, like if the building blows up or something, the survivors can retrieve the data from the cloud.

I'm setting up my RAID and am wondering if I should create a "share" for my files
or just create a folder.

Joe

You need to set it up as a 'Share' to be able to see it across the network.

Joooeeee!
So I got a USB Hard Drive to copy the RAID like your doing.
I mainly want it to retrieve a file from the previous day if needed.
On my current server I have Retrospect, It doesn't happen very often
but there has been occasion when It's been a lifesaver to get the previous file.

The USB Drive says it needs to be reformatted for MAC
will this be OK for the NAS RAID?

Joe

Is it an actual NAS or a regular USB hard drive? Because you don't hook a NAS up to a computer via USB. It plugs into your network via an ethernet cable.

And if it is a NAS what manufacturer and model?

I'm talking about the USB Drive, I have the NAS Drives all hooked up and running.

I just bought the USB Drive and I want to use it to back up the NAS like your doing.
the USB Drive says it needs to be formatted for MAC
Just wondering if reformatting the USB for MAC will work with the NAS

sorry I don't know how to speak geek
