We're in the market for a new folder. Currently looking at a Duplo for $9600. Needs to be in the $10000 price range new. The largest sheets we print (that need folding) is 12x18. An MBO is probably overkill for what we do, and also probably too expensive. Any recommendations? Nothing fancy... usually just fold in half or brochure/letter folding (and engineer/z folds).

You didn't mention which Duplo model you're looking at, but I'd recommend the DF-1300L if you go with that brand. It's the only machine in the lineup that is suction feed. All the rest are friction wheel fed which is problematic with coated stocks as the feed tire wears out.

The Baum 714XLT is also worth considering, and it's in your price range. The benefit to this unit is that since it's bottom feed, you can continuously add sheets to the stack while it's running. With the Duplo line, you can only load in a stack, then let it finish, it stops and lowers down the tray for you to re-load, then it raises up and starts again. You lose a lot of productivity that way. If you're a low-volume shop, that may be okay with you, but it would kill our production as we run thousands of sheets per job.

We're very low volume. We currently have a Baum... not sure the model, but a newer Baum model is also one we've been looking at. Good points to consider about the feed.
