Title: No really, I need a job
Post by: ninjaPB_43 on March 11, 2010, 10:13:37 PM
I am moving back to Texas. This time Houston/The Woodlands.

I do not want to leave, I just got home. However, the wife does not want to stay. CEENTA(Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat - her internship) is poorly run and she has been extremely unhappy with it. Her internship is over May 4th, and they've offered her a job. She doesn't want it. They have a monopoly over the area here, like 18 locations around Charlotte. So, I timidly and begrudgingly agreed to move again because there is much more opportunity for her there.

Youston, the good news is, we can now shoot pool when you come home to visit.   :ninja:

E, err uhh wookie, climb down off that there mountain and move to the border, the troops are gatherin' and we need some fur camo.

:jeep:

Oh man! I'm truly sorry the move to Charlotte didn't work out for you.

We might not be far behind you, though. If Shell doesn't get a job soon, I'm thinking of throwing in the towel and moving home to work for the family.

Tell your wife to suck it up dude, show her who the man is you puss. Get your balls out of her purse and say "No we are staying here". Why do we always have to make the sacrifice because the wife gets a burr up her ass but yet we are to always suck it up when it comes to our jobs. WTF

That's funny.

That's exactly what I did to get us back out here last year, and that hasn't panned out too well. My balls certainly aren't in her purse but it does take a more mature person to make a tough decision based on the best interest of us together instead of just my own desires.

Hey!
/waves from Dallas

Sorry to hear the internship did not work out. As far as Houston goes, someone posted this awhile back. It showed a few leads in that direction. http://www.indeed.com/ (http://www.indeed.com/)

Just to share something from your old neck of the woods. We had a dvd cover last week. The whole thing is in invisible ink that shows up with a blacklight. It was rush from a sister shop. It had no bleeds. When my boss called to point this out the reply was "It doesn't need bleed, it's invisible ink. No one will ever see it!" His reply was "Then why are we printing it, it's invisible!"
:cheesy:

Good luck to your search in Houston and many stories such as this one to share!

Wow, really? Do you have to wear a clown costume or gorilla suit (not pictured) or are you allowed to wear the miniskirt and let it all hang out.

A few months ago I saw one of those poor fools dressed up in a Statue of Liberty costume and a handful of balloons during tax season, drawing attention to a tax preparation place. The fact that he was a really tall black guy made it worth a picture.

Nobody's saying he can't move. Sure it's a PITA, but I guess it depends on how badly you want to work. I've relocated several times for work. Plus, if there's any Cali people out there who want to relocate a few miles, there's that too (I'm looking at you, Delooch).

Nobody's saying he can't move. Sure it's a PITA, but I guess it depends on how badly you want to work. I've relocated several times for work. Plus, if there's any Cali people out there who want to relocate a few miles, there's that too (I'm looking at you, Delooch).

So, his wife slaves away for years to get her PhD, lands a job in Houston, but 'nobody's saying he can't move ...' I bet I can think of *one* person who says he can't move.

exactly.

Liar. What if we threw in a llama?

Nope. The point was that there isn't an offer good enough. I will NEVER live in California. I will only live here for my wife, and back in NC, period.  :ninja:

Sorry you got Left Coast hang ups. The West Coast is the Best Coast.

Dude, I lived in Cali for over 17 years. He is better off where he's at. Too many goddamn stupid people, too many people period. Every job interview I had, I shared with 100 others JUST like me.

My apologies. I thought you were unique.

There is no uniqueness when you are fighting for a job flipping burgers. You and every damn Mexican in Mexico wants that job. Plus all the leniencies Cali has given these Mexicans and other illegal immigrants? No fucking thanks.

You're unique if you speak English ;-)

But aside from all the racial issues some people might have with Cali, there's no hurricanes, scarcely a tornado, great weather, great pay, great technology, great food (most of it grown nearby so it's fresh). It's not all SF or LA. Cali is very diverse. People have a lot of misconceptions. Not saying it's for you, but those of us who live here appreciate it.

A kept man? You're an idiot. I supported us for the past 6 yrs while she got this degree. I owe it to her to let her get some experience in the position she wants. I don't enjoy time off. I get bored. I actually LIKE working and being a self sustained man. You, on the other hand, sound like a petty, and jealous kid.

Trust me when I say, you will NEVER outsmart or outpost me.   :ninja2:

Edited to fix capitalization to avoid taking out another grammar cop.

Let's see? I was there for several pretty large Earthquakes... the Rodney King riots/ Hmmm, I've been stabbed by Mexicans entering a convenience store, more fights with black and mexicans than I care to mention. This was all when I was a kid. The money is no better because rent and insurance is astronomically high. Plus, it's only a matter of time before it completely cracks off into the ocean. The only thing it really has going for it, is it's lenience on pot and that to me is a last ditch effort to try and regulate the overspending. California is FUCKED, everyone knows this.

Gawd. Between DCS and PB today it's enough to just make me quit B4Print forever. Lighten up you too. Don't take life so seriously - you'll never get out alive.

PB - my wife is an RN, and any time I want, I can just walk away; she makes twice my salary and works about half the hours. I supported her while she was getting her degree. And I hate this business so much, it'll happen sooner than later. I just like money a whole lot, so I keep working. Well, that and we still have her student loans to pay off.

DCS - Sounds like you either start a lot of shit with people or you had one bad experience (granted it was pretty bad) and now you lump all people into one and only one category, and the truth is it's not like that. LOVE the earthquake argument. Lived in monterey, Fresno and Sacramento, and barely feel a tremor... EVER. Lived in the SF Bay Area for 6+ years and felt one tiny earthquake. a) you get used to it and b) the big ones are rare and you have insurance for a reason. Not all of Cali is subject to earthquake - only a small, tiny fraction of land really gets affected, and most construction in the area is built to withstand it. Sure there was damage in '89 and '94 but it's not like all 33 million residents of the state were affected. That's just irrational to think that.

No place is perfect - we usually live where we live because we like it. I LOVE Boston, but won't live there 'cuz it's too cold. I LOVE Seattle and Portland, but too rainy and snowy. Florida is nice too, but I don't want to deal with lightning, hurricanes and oil spills. Not a fan of Texas for my own political reasons. BTW, there are lots of earthquakes in Seattle too, but you never hear about them - there's a major one predicted to do catastrophic damage in the next 20 years - a bigger quake than the one expected in California.

Rioting? They don't riot in Detroit or Miami or elsewhere? Jesus, man, every time a sports team wins a pennant there's riots and looting.

I'm not trying to argue or make enemies, so i'll just drop it here. But this is my life, my home and you are entitled to your opinions and I'm entitled to mine and it sucks that you feel the need to insult where I live because it doesn't fit within your ideal definition of Shangra-La. Bullying and name calling isn't what I signed up for.

Let's hope the big one comes sooner than later. If the West Coast falls off it would create jobs because we'd have to make a bunch of new maps and stuff.

The last time I was in Cali my nose started bleeding - for all 3 days I was there. I don't think I've ever had a nosebleed ever, before or after that.

Enjoy your *cough*paradise*cough* and the Golden Horde once the water's gone.

I love it when people tout the rarity of earthquakes. My first trip out to California, I flew into Sacramento to visit a girl I was dating. This was during the third week of October, 1989. Care to guess how my story turns out?

Well, my first trip to San Fran was about two weeks prior to that. I think I'm glad the quake waited until I left, I woulda been in the pit.

I would say the same shit about Oklahomo and do, but worse. I have never felt the need to attack anyone about California until you started chiming in what a great place it was. People that lived in California can usually adapt to a slower-paced environment LIKE Oklahomo with little difficulty. The same is usually never the same vice-versa. Cali is a completely different environment. I grew up in Orange County. The traffic factor alone is enough to make the most outgoing Native Oklahomo cringe in fear. Like everything I say, I speak from experience. You may think I am picking on you, I am BTW, it's called hazing. Doesn't change the fact, Cali is NOT a good place to work right now.

AS far as earthquakes... do you actually live in California? Maybe San Fagcisco and the north is different. I went through hundreds of them. Some were horrifying, others not. The riots I am referring to are not Sports orientated. I'm talking about Racial riots, Rodney King, Watts and OJ. I had fucking bricks thrown at my car driving to work. Cops watched people looting stores and practically helped them. This was 20 years ago. I can't imagine what that place has become.

The food is better, I'll give you that.

BTW, I got hazed too. Far worse than I could ever deal out to you, so suck it up. You'll live.

None of the above. Actually, we had a lovely time, entirely uneventful. We even went for a swim in her pool, once the water stopped sloshing because of the VIOLENT EARTHQUAKE IN SAN FRANCISCO. You may have heard about it ... I believe there was some sort of sporting contest going on at the time.

No, I think it was the Hippie 500 ... 500 hippies trying to shuffle from one end of Lombard St. to the other without getting lost.

There were some tobacco-chewin' tools at Candlestick whacking some balls with some sticks ... cricket, maybe?

Orange County and San Francisco is what you see in the movies. A lot of the rest of the state is high-tech ranching, irrigated farm land and desert. Sacramento proper is about 100 miles from San Francisco proper. The '89 earthquake was barely felt in Sacramento from what the natives tell me. I was in Fresno. We also barely felt it, but knew immediately since the tv was on the World Series, and it lost feed. I have lived in California for close to 40 years, and have never been at the epicenter of a big quake. The largest quake I have felt was probably the 6+ in Coalinga in the mid-'80s which leveled that town, or a series of 4s and 5s in Mamoth Lakes, but we barely felt those. It wasn't even enough to displace anything off a shelf. And most of California is like that.

For the 6-7 million from Santa Cruz to San Francisco and the 15 million from San Diego to Santa Barbara that's their problem (fault) for living in any area with great jobs, great climate and ocean views. For the other 20 million Californians, we give up the ocean views, but keep the climate... and sure we pay for it, but we get compensated too. To me, the LA and SF people are all slaves to materialism. They all try to put on good appearances. The rest of us just want to enjoy life.

If I want to non-Indian casino gamble, ski, buy illegal fireworks, etc. I drive an hour and a half to Tahoe or Reno. If I want one to the best meals in the world at a world famous restaurant with a great view, I drive and hour and a half to SF. I have a snow-capped mountain view of the Sierras from my yard, and I BBQ nearly year round. I own one jacket, because I don't need another. I do not own any long sleeved shirts except for a few dress shirts I wear to weddings or funerals. I don't own gloves or a stocking cap (tuque?).

I have a secure job for the moment, as does my wife. I can afford my home and lifestyle. This is what I consider pleasant.

I found the PERFECT job!!!

http://houston.craigslist.org/lab/1849655247.html (http://houston.craigslist.org/lab/1849655247.html)

What the hell were you doing in my town? Had that down the street from me during tax season. He looked so unamused.

Brandon's the dude in the bottom right with shades on, holding a "bottle" of some sort. They had to crop the shot because of you know what.

I see a mullet there, too.

They're every where.

Makes you wonder who would use a tax service based solely on the fact that there is a guy in a monkey suit out front.

:jeep:

You should have grown some balls and told her to get over it. Does she carry your balls in her purse or what? My wife carries my balls and my spine but I admit it plus I'm too old to fight, it's easier to give in.

Tell your wife to suck it up dude, show her who the man is you puss. Get your balls out of her purse and say "No we are staying here". Why do we always have to make the sacrifice because the wife gets a burr up her ass but yet we are to always suck it up when it comes to our jobs. WTF

Hahaha, I think he got your point the first time.

She's definitely not the "man" of the house but she does wear the pants, and they fit her quite well I must admit. It's really hard for me to picture PB going "Yes Dear" for the rest of his life even though I do but it's too late for me. Dammit PB get your balls and spine back and take a stand. As for me, my balls are shriveled to raisins and my spine has collapsed. Take it from a broken man, start taking a stand now before it's too late.

What's all this talk about pants? No one wears pants in my household, but we do occasionally put a dress on the dog.

 :ninja:

Also, FTR, I run shit. We wouldn't haven't moved had I not been on board. In Texas, I can raise livestock, shoot mah gun, and learn Spanish. Plus, this way I have an excuse to not make it to the family reunion every year, where my idle hands ALWAYS get me in trouble.

Oh, and blow me.

Paybacks are hell. Oh I see, she got you away from seeing your family, how sweet. Does she not care for your family? Was it the job she didn't like or was it her grand scheme to just get you away from your family?

CSR's don't buy printing from various vendors. We have a whole call center dedicated to answering phones, I'm not one of them. They are our CSR's.  Also, you find my legs and ass incredibly sexy.
