So i have a PDF of a map, and i need to take part of the map section and place it in another document.  Normally i would just open the PDF in illustrator (Im running CS2 on XP) and take what i need, however, its not recognizing the embeded font names (which are many) so everything is all whack in illy.

Isnt there a way to re-process a pdf from acrobat so it converts all the text to outlines?

thanks!

cool, i thought i saw that on this board somewhere..

i also figured out that unchecking the "rely on system fonts" box resolves the font naming issue as well. I dont know if its supposed to, but it works.

Thanks for the quick response!

You could also get a trial version of Enfocus Neo.  It will outline fonts for you with no problem at all.  enfocus.com.
