Great. I was leaning toward the WD drives even though I have two sitting on my desk here that won't spin up or mount.

Delooch, didn't you say earlier in the thread you've had no issues w/ your WD Passport drives?

No matter what you buy it might only last 30 days or it might last 10 years. It's all a crap shoot. How lucky do you feel?

If it's made Asia, not lucky at all.

Newegg has some nice ones. Too many damn choices.

As stated before we have 2 of the WD's here and no issues.

The problem I've had with externals is that the more recent ones have been having frequent failures, not of the drives, but the power-supply! I have a very old Lacie that is an HD meant for laptops, no additional power supply, it draws its power directly from the USB, and it's been working amazingly well for almost 10 years, now. More recent ones suck. I'd actually look at the USB jump-drives as an alternative. The larger capacity ones are much more expensive, but they're solid-state, pretty much waterproof, and don't need additional power, and are now starting to reach the capacity of a reasonable HD.

... seems to be heading that way rapidly.

What if he was creating an app that finds and sorts pron more efficiently based on your personal preferences?
