QR codes can be a bit difficult to use and something you need to add on to use. I think they never got traction as it was not automatically integrated into a phones camera, it was another app to add, open, scan and then see what is there. There needs to be a simpler way to access a QR code for it to catch on with non tech people. These techs to be adopted need to be effortless. Augmented reality is still early days and no one knows exactly where it will really shine. Some of the headsets like the Microsoft Hololens look like they are good for specific work environments, not something I would wear around the house. I would like to see them built into glasses (which is being worked on by Intel I believe), they should look no different. I think once that technology is here AR will really boom... if the price is affordable. AR on a phone is gimmicky, screens are to small, just not a shinning example of what AR could and should be... of course this is all my humble opinion.
